Only if it results in free food...

Are we the only "spoil sports" who find this stuff annoying and degrading (to the wait staff)?
No insult if you LOVE the guys and gals at Outback singing to you, but I just had to ask. less

I work in food service, and I would be mortified if I had to do that BS every day. I don't want to put the staff through that as a customer, and I hate the attention anyway. Honestly, I don't like personal attention much at all.

I don't like everyone making a big deal of my birthday, nor do I need strange people to insincerely wish me a happy birthday just because it's their job. I mean, it's nice when a friend lets the waitstaff know, and they surprise you with a free dessert or something. But I can do without the singing.

Only if it involves a free desert like some places do. If not, then no.

Restaurants need to do away with that. It's too busy most of the time to put everything on hold for a sing-a-long that it may not even be somebody's birthday anyway.

No I'd rather be low key. I think I'd skip the restraunt, so I was assured no one would pull a stunt like that on me!!

I absolutely abhor this. I like going out for dinner and drinks on my birthday, but that shit gets on my nerves real quick.

I just want to be left alone so I can eat dinner.

I've always hated this, even when I was a kid. I hate this kind of attention and being surprised so much I threatened to walk out on my own surprise birthday party when I turned 10. My mom was so mad when I asked for her keys so I could wait for her in the car.

I hate it!

Same here. I don't like all that attention.

I completely hate it! It's so embarrassing and I'd take to be a waitress and have to sing those cheesy songs... I do love the free desert though
