Are you usually more knowledgeable than retail sex stores employees?

I could definitely own my own store with no problem whatsoever.

We only have one sex shop in my town, but I know a bit more than the lady at the counter. Not a whole lot, but a little. On toys and lube, anyways. She knows more about the lingerie though. She's really nice though, so we pass along tips and stuff whenever I'm in there to pick up lube or look at party supplies.

There are so many sex toy shops here in the city I live in. But... they never sell anything that is of any quality. I was in one in October I think it was, and they had this one giant rabbit vibe that wss a silver grey but looked more like a medieval torture device than anything. I should go back and get pictures.

They don't even have bullet vibes. But... many of those shops are not really intended for women but for men. They've so many blow up dolls, breasts for titty fucking, fake vaginas, fake asses..... and so many different kinds of arousal pills, stimulator, vigra type pills, teas... If they do have something for women, they really do look like their items are from the 70's or 80's.

And don't even ask them (even if you ask them in Chinese) if they have any silicone toys, or such.

In Shanghai, or Beijing... or some of the other mecca cities where they are more modern and have more expat communities, they have some semi-decent toy shops. They may not know as much about modern toys as I do because I have actually used them, but are more than happy to sit down, drink some tea and talk about various toys and what they might carry that would sell right.

But... China... in the actual stores... you can still haggle over the asking price!!!!

I think it's rather disconcerting when you know more than the person who's supposed to be selling you things. You'd think they'd take an interest in their craft. Especially when it's something so fun!
Agreed

I hosted a Pure Romance party and felt like I knew more than the consultant. Needless to say I did not purchase any toys from her.

I can totally understand why. In my area they have high prices and a very disappointing selection.

I think that some sex store employees are only there just because its a job. ive went to a shop and asked some questions and got the deer caught in the headlights look. so id like to think i am more knowledgeable than the employees at the shops that i shopped at.

I only know of one store near me, Spencer's and I would never ask for help there anyway.
