I am one of the less fortunate souls that still has one of those totally awesome flip phones with the pull out keyboard. Just talking and texting, nothing else. I would love to get a smart-phone, but still can't justify the expense of getting a data plan. How important is this to you in your daily life?

I'd be lost without my smart phone, but if it were just for personal uses, I don't know if I'd have it. I NEED it for my job and they also pay for it because I need to be reachable by phone and email at all times.

I have a nice middle of the road Blackberry. It's nothing super fancy, but it's still a smart phone. I do use the data plan a lot, but I'm really unhappy about the possibility of having to pay the same amount that I pay for unlimited data usage for a fixed amount of data usage, so I'm going to hold off on getting a new phone for as long as possible. At least until I figure out whether or not T-Mobile is going to keep the unlimited plan once AT&T takes over. My husband's phone texts, makes phone calls, and takes some pictures. He's happy with it, and I wouldn't be embarrassed by it if it were my phone either. The only time a cell phone ever embarrasses me is if it does something to lose a call in the middle of an important conversation.

We'll get a smart phone in a few years. Right now our Env3 fits our lifestyle perfectly!

I can't leave home without. When I hear an alert on my phone. I'm very obsessed with it. But trying to cut back my time.

I don't care what phone I have, I only use it for calling. I don't text, have a great laptop for internet and my phone is my least important item.

I switch between this. Sometimes I'm just fine with an old school phone and others, I'm vain and want my smartphone.

As long as it serves it main purpose I'm fine.

I use a droid. It rules my life, from the moment I get out of bed (because my two alarms on the phone are going me off telling me to) to the moment I hit the pillows again at night. I keep up with Google+, My email accounts (I deal with about 1000 / day), texts, and most importantly my schedule. I occasionally use it as a phone, but more often than not I am using the parts that make it a "smart" phone.

I have a blackberry smartphone and am totally attached to smartphones. however, I HATE my blackberry. I can't wait till I can get something else!

I have a prepaid candy phone. It's a tracfone. I'm not exactly embarrassed by it, but I don't like to use it. I'm not a fan of cell phone providers either.

personally, i know quite a few folks with Iphones who cant get the damn things to make a CALL.
so my $12 walmart phone that turns itself off for no reason and has weird computer glitches all day long is no problem for me. i dont mind it when people cant get a hold of me via cell phone. i'd rather them just drop by.

I thought I wouldnt care. but i do. I feel lost without it

I have a phone to make phone calls, I have a computer for computing, and I am pleased with this arrangement.

I was just like you, until 2 months ago. I got my new Bionic with data plan (Verizon upgraded it to 4gb a month for free!) and I can't live without it now. I use it all the time.

That's how my RAZR was, it lasted 3 years, multiple bathtub drops, full bricking then re-flashing...twice, and being slung across a few hallways.

I guess I have what is called a "dumb phone"? It's not a flip phone, but it has seen all nine circles of hell and back. It doesn't have a back, it's been dropped in water, soda, paint, etc. and yet it still serves its purpose: to text and make phone calls. I can't say I'm embarrassed by it; instead, I'm so proud that it's withstood that kind of damage (knock on wood)
I wanted an Iphone for a while, but I couldn't justify spending 100$ a month on a phone when I have to pay my rent and other utilities. I'll gladly stick with my Superman phone instead. less

Honestly, if I didn't have my smart phone I would be way more of a flake than I all ready am. I've never been good at scheduling things, and my phone is a huge help. Plus, working in IT, having the internet on me at all times is a huge help.
