I rapid cycle, multiple times a day. There are different types of Bipolar. If I don't know what I want or how I want someone to help me I can go from lonely to depressed to angry to livid to sad and horny all in an hour sometimes. I've cycled through them and cried, then laughed hysterically and then not be able to talk for hours because I was so depressed. People used to think I was joking. I've even started out laughing and ended up full on bawling my eyes out.

I am not, and I consider myself very fortunate. I've long suspected that I may have unipolar depression of a moderate degree, but I shouldn't self-diagnose. I might go to a doctor early next year, because I feel like I've been getting worse.

That being said, working as a psychiatric nurse has allowed me to see for myself the devastating effects of bipolar disorder on my clients, particularly the manic phases.

I'd also like to say that a lot of the general public seems to be unaware of what bipolar disorder really is. People need to be educated more thoroughly about all mental illness if we wish to reduce the ever-present stigma.

I agree with that last statement wholeheartedly. Though I must say, it's gotten better over the last few years, or at least I think so. But then again, it also seems like more and more people are being diagnosed, myself included.

Reading that over again made me chuckle because that statement itself was all sorts of ups and downs lol

Anyway, it would be amazing if people, like my family, would understand the disorder better, and learn to accept that it IS real and it IS hard...same with my social phobia. I may seem like a social butterfly on the forum but great Scott, put me in a room with 3 other people and I'll probably throw up and cry at the same time.

I feel your pain. I was diagnosed 2 years ago...not nearly as long as you, but they haven't gotten my meds right either, and I also can't work a regular job. I applied for disability but it's gonna take a long time til that goes through, after I appeal for it when they inevitably deny me. Being mentally "disabled" sucks more than people realize because it's a disorder that nobody can really see unless they spend a lot of time with you, or catch you at the right moment, but it's definitely not a very visible "disease"

I was diagnosed with bipolar 2 disorder recently and they have me on wellbutrin 300mg and respridol and trazadone for night time sleep. I am doing fine on the Wellbutrin but I was taking a celexa and couldn't nt cum to save my life... There weren't enough toys in the world to use. So if you are worries about the medication they put you on.. Stayaway from the sdrug family that involves celexa.

I believe I am, but have never been diagnosed.

I used to be on Zoloft for depression, and I had a lot of success on it, but it completely killed my sex drive. I had no desire for any kind of sex (including masturbation) for years. Eventually, I was feeling like the Zoloft wasn't as effective as it used to be so my doctor upped my dosage to something that made me feel like a zombie. I stopped taking it altogether to clear my head and never went back.

Ultimately, I would like to go back to a different doctor and get a new diagnosis and try some new therapy ideas or possibly a new medication. It just scares me though, and I keep putting it off.
