It has gotten crazy on some product pages.
Are the user uploaded photos on products getting out of hand?

Thanks for saying that. I was a little loose in my explination. I happen to love your photos. seriously do. There are a few people, you included of course that do take a lot of time posting there pics. I try to put effort into mine but they all come out looking like shit on my ipod, so i think I'm going to stop. You on the other hand should not!

The images that Rod Renold is talking about aren't of products at all. I love it when people upload their own images of a product, you get a much better idea of what the product looks like. However, there are people uploading scenery images, personal photos, etc. I think adding a flag option is a smart idea, and perhaps even a staff thread could be started letting new users understand that the upload feature on pages is for product photos, not personal ones. less

Did not know this. It would be nice to see them change it, or just make that the only way to upload a product photo. that way you know that that person has not only bought they toy, but has tested it as well.

Rather than get rid of the points system, I think the points should be awarded for uploading photos to your review (currently this is not the case) or in both places at least.. I put a lot of time into doing my photos well and it enhances the reviews. EF puts my photos on the product page currently (even before I publish my reviews), but I don't get the points for uploading them, because I am uploading them to my review page.
SO to combat that I am uploading the photos to the product page too to get the pts I deserve. less

I honestly haven't noticed it, but hopefully those who upload user photos have the common sense and courtesy to upload responsibly rather than spamming for the sake of earning points.

Product pictures are fine and all, but I want to see pictures that the person actually took, to a degree.
I'm tired of seeing people uploading stock-product-images. Those images don't help me see what the item actually looks like.
I -also- don't like pictures that are all blurry or out of focus. No, I don't expect everyone to be a photographer, but a picture of an item in a very dimly lit room, all fuzzy from lack of focus.. it doesn't help me see the item.

I'm not sure if this is policed in a sense of the word, but man it rubs me the wrong way to see all of these google images uploaded as user pics, or two "diffrent" users posting the same exact pics just for points.
Does anyone else wish we could flag uploaded product photos to stop this crap? less

It would be nice to flag photos that don't have anything to do with the product.

It'd be interesting to see a picture of a glass dildo being used as a magnifier. Example: using it as a magnifying glass on small text...say the bible. Lol, ok, just kidding.

I have to comment on this thread because I do upload pictures to all of my reviews and it does take quite a bit of time to take the photos, upload them to the computer, edit them for a long amount of time, add information on some of them for the review readers and other contributors, resize them and then upload them to the main page and then go through the review to see where they are supposed to be. I spend hours on my reviews, just so everyone can get a real view of the product. That really matters to me and I love seeing reviews with photos. These are EXTREMELY helpful most times.
On the subject of the google photos, they should be reported if the person is doing it for point farming. If they are simply uploading one or two because they have no camera, that should be alright. If we see the same people doing it multiple times, it should be looked into.

Do you mean that people are copying and pasting photos from Google, photos that are not their own photos? I did not know this happened here. Never seen it. But that is not okay. You cannot take someone's photo and use it as your own and use it to get points. Are people doing that here?

Maybe I did get confused, but if that is what you are saying, then I'd probably bring it up with administrators. I mean, if others are definitely using photos as their own that are not actually their own, they're getting points for it and basically stealing someone's photo. No, I'm pretty sure that'd be against EF rules.
You know what. People like this piss me off. Why do people have to come here and act like that? Point farm by stealing photos from someone? Seriously? You know, because the points you could freaking earn just simply are not enough, right? WTF!? I guess that is what they think. That's like the "gimme more, more, more and more will never be enough" attitude and it disgusts me to see it.

I've never noticed it myself. But either way, it doesn't bother me. As long as I know I'm not doing it, I'm good. I'm not the one who will end up being banned from the site. The way I look at it, I just let people be and do their thing. They will get caught on their own sooner or later. But if it bothers you so much, then yes, maybe you should report these people.

What a wonderful compliment! Thank you so much! I hope everyone knows that I wasn't saying anything negative about the photos of others. As long as your images are clear enough so that everyone can easily see what you're taking photos of, than that's great! It's not a big deal if the photos aren't perfect, some of mine still end up darker/more blurry than I'd like for them to be.

This WAS the product page that had all the photos uploaded to it. As you can tell, our awesome staff here has taken care of the spammy images already (you guys are awesome!).

damn it! I wanted to see what all the hub ba ballo was about! But Yeah Potter I got you loud and clear. To be crystal what I'm saying is that I have seen a lot of STOCK photos being used. In some cases I have seen 2 diffrent users using the same photos, all the other user does is zoom into the photo to crop out the background. They do a pretty shitty job of it. I think now that it has been brought to everyone's attention, it should become less of a common thing.

The hard fact is, if people keep fucking up this site they may take away certain things that other users love. THAT would piss me off!
I'm trying to be a better user, I'm trying to add something here, so if you people see me slipping up, call me out on my shit by all means.
12/17/2012
I haven't noticed that yet but I would hate someone using my pictures in order to get points.
12/17/2012
This is why I edit and mark my photos with my username so no one else can use them. I load my pics to the product page first get my points then proceed to my review. I can't really contribute much more then what everyone else has already mentioned so I will leave it at that.
12/17/2012
I've given this a lot of thought. Bottom line, I'd like to see more pictures of llamas.

I've been in contact with admin about people copying parts or all of other's photos & posting them as their own. After I first reported this, it has now happened to MY photos. Mainly, it's the group glass dildo shots that this seems to happen to. So, just because you see a blown up section of an already posted photo, under a different screen name, don't assume it's the same person! I've been trying to get this taken care of, but nothing has happened yet.
02/17/2013
That is freaking annoying! I must admit that when I started I posted photos of a toy I took personal pictures of and then when my review went up with the same pictures it made it look like I doubled them...

The photos are a great addition to the review, but come on people do your own work, It's just fair. A few bad ones make the others look bad
02/17/2013
If it's a case of stolen photos or people just swiping the product image off of another site then I would agree that it's not acceptable.
02/17/2013
Ivve actually seen someone copy one of the photos that i posted, and photoshop it! added little borders to it, the whole nine. I was heated because as many of you know, I always add photos to my reviews to make them as thorough as possible. So for someone to claim my work? out the question. I won't mention names here, as its looked down upon but you know you who you are.
02/17/2013
I would say something if they are using pics. But overall pictures do help me in making purchases.

I've noticed that even photos with watermarks or the contributor's name are being stolen and reuploaded. It's ridiculous.
In my opinion, the best way to go about this is to make points available ONLY for uploading photos in a review. The way it is now, you don't get photos for uploading within a review, even though they all go to the product page. You get 20 points for uploading directly onto the product page. At least if they're being uploaded in a review, they're less likely to be stolen, wrong photos, or manufacturer photos that are already shown.

The only thing with that though is that not everyone uses the EF uploader for their review photos. I use photobucket for my reviews and than upload my images to the product page later on.
