Was it?

I've never considered misusing a word or not knowing a definition to mean someone was unintelligent. It happens to all of us.

Perhaps she was insulting my character by saying I was accusing people of things when I wasn't.

It's all so subjective.

Seriously? You're really gonna try to get out of that one? Everyone's being bitchy now, and we all realize it, but don't try to pretend you aren't.

I'm just posting because I want to be the 100th post.. but seriously, I've had way too much to drink tonight.

I've said this before, people need to make a yahoo group where they can discuss these things off site because arguments are not only really bad for business but for the community. We work so hard to make this a receiving, welcome site and it's threads like these that will deter new contributors from posting. I'm not calling anyone out because I like you all equally but I think it's prime time we're started a group or forum off of Eden where contributors can "vent" about these things in a more appropriate place.

I think we should have a contributors only forum. A private forum that only contributors who are signed in can see and participate in. However, I really don't think it should be off-site. If we are going to be voicing concerns there, it should be in a place that EF employees can see and respond to it. They should really figure out how to do it in these forums. Or revamp these forums entirely.

Regarding your post on age demographics, I also agree that many of the reviewers seem to be younger students, which is a wonderful thing. However, since women don't hit their sexual peaks until their 30's, I'm always thrilled and refreshed to read reviews from women closer to my age (and those who are in longer-term marriages). I know my perspective has changed greatly through the years, so I actually wish Eden would do more to encourage 'older' reviewers as well.

I offered to do that, on my own time, but the folks on here seemed to want EF to do it.

That was a long time ago, and I really think it is time to re-address it....

I agree Dame.

I love the perspectives I see of the younger people (the early 20's) because they have great enthusiasm and wonderful writing skills.

I would, however, like to see more reviewers at 30 or above. I know my "yummy 30 yr old hormone rage" started about 29ish and continues to grow.

I think if EF if going to go out seeking new reviewers from blogs they should seriously consider seeking "older" new reviewers. After all, I think we already have the best college-aged reviewers out there.

(Wow... I can't believe all that happens on here while I'm sleeping.)

I'm a Libra, so I'd like to not side with anyone this time around

However, I'd like to point out a few things:

1. With description reviews, sometimes a review does not get published until weeks later. I'm not sure why this is, but these are new POTENTIAL products that Eden is considering carrying. It's very possible that Eden is still evaluating whether or not it will make it onto the site. I have had instances in which a review I submitted was not published until two or three weeks later, well into the next month. Maybe some people who look like they're getting a ton of toys in a single month actually aren't, but are simply having a ton of REVIEWS published that month.

2. I think that when the descriptive review program first came out, EF kept it hush-hush because they wanted to try it out first with a batch of (maybe randomly selected?) the more experienced reviewers who were with EF longer, who produced quality reviews, etc. I know we would all like to believe that we write quality reviews, but obviously, EF couldn't ask everyone in the beginning, when it was just a test project. Maybe they could only ask ten reviewers, and I know there are a lot more than ten experienced, good reviewers on the site. So naturally, some reviewers got left out of the so-called "reindeer games" and feelings were hurt. I know I felt a little sad/scared when I realized that all of the new toys were coming out with verified reviews already attached. What's going on? I wondered. I came to the forums and made a post (and also found other posts) about it and soon had my questions answered.

Not long after, Victoria made an official post about it, so now everyone was in the loop. I don't think this was so much EF realizing that its "cover was blown", but more that EF felt that interest in the descriptive review program was high enough and that the program had been tweaked enough that it was now ready for Advanced Reviewers to apply.

3. The only real complaint stated by anyone towards EF is that EF hasn't been consistently keeping all reviewers in the loop. I can see both sides of this issue. On the one end: Yes, I would have liked to know about new spiffy programs such as the descriptive review and the fact that bloggers are now being invited to become reviewers (I was never invited... I just stumbled into EF purely out of luck ). On the other, however: No, we're not stockholders. We ARE important to EF because the community-generated reviews are what make EF so special/different from other sex toy retailers. However, EF can't reasonably make everyone 100% happy. I guess the common saying is "Don't look a gift horse in the mouth."

4. I'm not going to say that DBD and CA are wrong for bringing issues up. It's always good to have someone to have a critical eye. The only thing that really bothers me is that I'm seeing a lot of senior, top-ranked reviewers almost come to blows. It's like watching Mommy and Daddy fight. I know that most of the storm has blown over now (hopefully), so what I say doesn't have as much impact (thank goodness ). I just want you guys and gals to know that before this post dies, ya'll better hug, kiss, make up, make out, and have a frikkin' orgy. We're allowed to have our fights, but like any good community, we need to just realize that we can't always agree and shake hands at the end of it.

5. I have to wait til after class is over to have my orgasm

Love you all,
~MC

Spent the better part of the night in the library and this am saw the 108 posts...holy shit!!
Nothing is perfect but I like so many others want EF to grow positively, good for EF and their products improve my sex life. I don't have the time to research multiple sites or too many blogs much less blog myself. My concern is communication....polic ies change, protocols are vague and yes I know a new team is in place and it will take time. I am a type A and impatient..
On the reviews, to me it is a daunting task to choose a product to review with the vague guidelines which results in immediate on-line refusals. The items available now seem to be mostly lingerie or costumes, or very low quality dils and vibes. I am 26 but have been there and done that!
My reviews are for toys I have that I bought or were given to me as gifts..
I would welcome feedback on my reviews, in general, from EF as I want to know if I am hitting the mark. I write all the time in my life but mostly in a clinical sense, so different from sex toy reviews.

So glad I went to bed very early this am, enjoyed a good orgasm and did not read all the posts.

Point taken. However- this post is nowhere near what I was writing about. I do not have to participate in a bar-room brawl or cat fight.

I felt frustrated that I feel Eden is a company that builds it self on collaboration with reviewers. It does a poor job in communicating (email, forums and websites) it's policies and a poorer job in acknowledging those people that actual are willing to spend time and effort in working towards improving Eden - without feeling as if they deserve free toys. I'm less concerned about inequality than others are- there are business decisions for it.

Why exactly should I actually care about making Eden a better place? (Ummm. Y'all go have your fight now.)

There was one thing said, and it was way down on page 4. Descriptions reviews are often published after a substantial delay. That's interesting. Thanks.

In this thread, I personally feel attacked by a few of you. I would like to request that it stop. You write objective reviews that I respect. Do you know how to carry on an objective discussion? (Not to mention the damn bickering among several of you.)

Eden is built on collaboration. There should be room for everyone and everyone's sexuality here. From those with very limited experience to those of of all types. There should be a way to make room and accept in whatever form people want to contribute not make anyone feel left out or excluded, and still meet the needs of the business as a profitable place.

I want you all to know something else. I read this thread last night. I ended up in tears. That was before a planned conversation to tell my husband that I wanted a complete break from sex. He thinks it's for maybe 3 days and I'm thinking at least two or three weeks. Currently, I feel this group includes the exact opposite of community. There is very little understanding here at times.

If we're going to make this a thread where we can discuss our feelings without being attacked, I would just like to say that all of these posts about reviewers feeling under appreciated are starting to make me feel horribly guilty. I get that I'm a Quaker and therefore guilt over "having more" is omnipresent, but it's getting to the point where I feel like I have to do SOMETHING to placate people.

I'm usually proud of myself when I write something useful, and I would write and edit reviews on Notepad for hours, getting a rush out of the project. But it's getting to the point where all I feel when I sit down to write a review is this horrible, awful guilt for having something I didn't pay for while other, more deserving members feel left out.

I'm not pointing fingers or trying to be mean, but I am generally hard to rankle, and now I just feel...bad. and spoiled.

Contributor: Backseat Boohoo Backseat Boohoo
Also, I would like to point out that description project reviews take FOREVER to be posted. It may look like I got a thousand free things in a single week, but some of those reviews I wrote over a month beforehand, and they either had to be edited or just didn't get posted for weeks upon weeks.

Another reason why I have more verified reviews than "stuff I paid for" right now is because the holidays just happened, and I've planned to put more money away from grad school. So the number of toys I personally spend money on has been cut about in half. This means fewer reviews overall, but more reviews that were free or buyout. Because a lot of people have similar problems right now (well, the holidays, at least), comparing the number of free reviews to the number of non-free (better word for that?) reviews will probably lead to skewed numbers.

Ladies, gentlemen, peeps – seriously. Flame wars went out in 1997, along with ‘you go girl’ and crowd-surfing. Which is just a nice way of saying that this has gotten a wee bit out of control. This little thread has turned into an arena for some ugly behavior. I am really saddened by the way some of you have attacked each other…and I am also appreciative of those who’ve tried to make peace and inject humor into the fray. Which is why I’m not telling Dad.

Sifting through, I have found just as much inflation as truth. There are unwarranted accusations and valid points alike. There are qualified feelings and there is shameless drama. And for that matter, drama also went out in 1997. Romantic comedy’s the new in; hadn’t y’all heard?

Open invitations to every program have been posted: link, link, link
And while we haven’t posted official guidelines for your reference on the website yet, we have discussed them in detail on the forums. Before anyone makes the assertion that communication is poor, perhaps they should do a simple search for the information and, failing that, just send an email. The contributors who have posted in this thread saying that they are happy with the programs also happen to be the most direct communicators I deal with. That is not a coincidence. Those people send me emails, ask me questions, reply quickly to my answers or requests and in general are very responsive in their relationship with us.

We have many projects to juggle and updated information takes programming – so an immediate change is not possible. Sometimes it takes a few weeks. This is true of new content, new functions, and new products. This is why a Description Review can take a few weeks to go live; once we decide to carry a product, it needs to be set up in our system and made ready for sale before the page is activated. We often have several go live at once. Interpreting these things will only lead you to make false assumptions. Running such a highly-interactive website takes an immense amount of programming. Please keep in mind that some technical aspects are not going to be made clear to you. Unless, of course, we hire you to join our IT team. (We’re full up right now; thanks.)

The various and sundry review programs are selective, not exclusive – there is a difference. We have other threads discussing the why and who of the Description Review Program and the Off-Site Review Program. We’ve done our best to be as clear as possible about these programs, as well as responsive to individual questions and concerns.

Anyone can do Not Assigned Off-Site reviews. Anyone can do Not Assigned On-Site reviews. There is a great deal of flexibility here. We have made it very clear who to contact with questions. Every post we make on specific programs or processes lists a contact email. To make it even easier, we’ve discussed having a quick contact box on the forum page, and that will be developed soon.

To aid in your understanding of how the program breaks down, here is a summary of titles, responsibilities, and contact information:

Victoria (In the pink): Program Manager and Staff Editor
Handles all aspects of the Review Program, including assignments, reviews, Admin messages and functions, Upgrade requests, editing and publishing reviews, Writes copy / terms for the website. Is the first contact for any feedback, concerns, and issues from contributors. Does outreach, adhoc PR and special projects. Loves thrash metal and reading in bed. Is too tall for heels.
Contact at: victoria@edenfantasys. com OR partners@edenfantasys. com

Drew (drewg): Off-Site Review Program recruiter, Marketing and Adhoc PR
Does research and recruiting for the offsite program, reviews off-site review assignment requests, responds to off-site inquiries and technical questions. Does adhoc PR and special projects. Has a secret love of West Side Story and will not drink anything with fizzy bubbles in it.
Contact at: drewg@webmerchantsinc. com

Matthew (TSM): Guides Editor and Staff Writer
Manages the new Guides project. Engages authors, educators and field experts for research pertaining to the Guides. Does adhoc writing for some of our promotions. Occasionally runs contests. Really uptight, but looks fabulous in Armani. Also may very well be the final Cylon.
Contact at: mrdobad@webmerchantsin c.com

The Review Program and its satellite programs are an evolving resource. We learn as we go – and we apply what we learn. We will never be able to make everyone happy but we do think we are fair. No one is ignored, but some people feel that way simply because they are not getting what they want. That’s life. I have strived from my first day to increase the communication with our community and to base my decisions on merit. We are not cold, unreasonable or unapproachable. We all inherited work that needed some refining. I have gotten many wonderful emails from contributors who see these positive changes and feel like they are getting more personal feedback. There are no favorites; there is no faulty ranking or crazypants conspiracy. We allow more freedom and interaction than any other site of this kind, with those variables comes confusion. The infighting and competition is an unfortunate and unforeseen side effect of some of our applications and information being manipulated. You’re all hip, reasonable folks, right? Read up on the info we have available and when reading the forum posts, look between the lines and take it with a grain of salt. And for love of dildos, send a freakin email when you’re concerned!

Well, well…what have we here?

As a conspiracy buff (don’t get me started on the Lincoln assassination), I’d love to tell y’all that Victoria, Drew and I sit around webconferencing up new and unique ways to screw you cats out of free sex toys. But, um…we’re actually – how do you call it – oh, right: working. When we’re not bemoaning the death of grammar, that is.

Anyhoo. Victoria doth sing the truth. Especially about flame wars becoming passe in ’97. While I’m not personally involved in the day-to-day ops of the review program, I know enough about it to say that no one has any interest in sticking it to anybody. Unless by ‘sticking it’ you mean sending out a boatload of new and free dildos.

And that’s what it’s all about, folks. Because nothing says ‘we heart you’ like a shiny new dildo. Or buttplug. Or big scary steel thing that looks like a lethal weapon but still passes as a sex toy. Wev. Seriously. The orgasms are still on the house.

So, to paraphrase one of the astute commentatrixes here, never look a gift onacup in the…mouth-thing.

Be happy! And if you’re not, come talk to us – we answer our email…eventually

Oh, and it’s true, by the way – I am the final Cylon.

Eden Fantasys is continually evolving and these first few months have been very interesting, to say the least. I have spoken with many of you via email about the Off-Site Review program, and your comments or constructive criticisms are always welcome. We strive to do our best here and make ourselves available to the community. I really enjoy learning about everyone in our community and look forward to it each day. Boohoo, I assure you that I would never want you to feel bad. It seemed to me that the scales were seriously tipped in favour for some folks and this thread has brought to light that just because something seemed that way, doesn't mean it actually is. (for instance, that it sometimes takes a long time for expert reviews to be published so i can look like they're happening in a closer time frame than they are).

Although this did get out of hand (but, honestly compared to what it could have been ,it's nothing LOL), I think it's because there -are- feelings involved. I know I wanted my feelings heard. I felt a little sore about things. Now that a little more light had been shed on the subject and I think people have heard my voice, I feel immensely better.

Victoria, thank for you clarifying the who's who around here and to the rest of the staff who spoke up. I think this place gets a little confusing at times and we all can forget to be patient and forgiving in the process.

At the risk of stirring up a hornet's nest- which I hope that everyone can avoid. I'm posting here again. I'm certainly not interested in starting any other thread.

My original thoughts remain unanswered in my head.

Right now, I don't care about rank or toys. There isn't any value. I don't see have much interest in making Eden a better company (at the moment anyway.) The only reason that I have for actually caring or working hard and publishing reviews for products that I purchased is to make the world a better place. I have mixed feelings about doing that right now, too!

Thoughts?
