Did you notice how several people jumped up and opposed the idea of DBD posting the link? They did not want a repeat of that last forum. And neither do I.
Yes, it's not the reviewer's fault, but this is still an accusation directed toward a particular person, and I don't think it's right to use them as an example. Just as you wouldn't take it personally, I know that I WOULD take it personally if my activity with EF was called into question here.
But again I'd like to reiterate that 7 reviews in 2 months is really nothing crazy, so I see no point in trying to "figure" it out. If it really bothers DBD, she can do it herself very easily.
less
Yup. DBD can easily do it herself. Like I said, I didn't intend for it to be a "call out" of anyone and will hereby retract the request since it was taken so poorly.
So long as everyone understands I didn't mean it that way.
Now I'm going to talk a little about why I think checking (but not calling anyone out) is a valid way to explain some hurt feelings and feelings of being snubbed and kind of insulted and confused.
I just pulled up an anonymous, random reviewers profile. In December they did eight reviews. Two of them were plain old verified, three of them were product description and three of them were non verified reviews. That means, logically, that one verified was their monthly requested toy and one was a buy out. The three regular reviews were obviously toys they bought elsewhere or already owned. And the product descriptions were just that, free product description items.
What this means is this person got four free toys last month. And, yeah, I'm a bit envious of that. Not mad at the person but you can't help feeling a bit envious when you're not getting stuff you'd like to have.
Especially when you're browsing the new toys pages and see that a whole bunch of really nifty yet low priced glass toys have come out. And they've all already been reviewed! Damn! It sure would be nice if someone who'd never tried glass and who had to choose lower priced toys could've done one of those. Double damn. And, triple damn, half the people who did them have already done gorgeous, high end glass toys.
So now someone else got four free toys last month to your one and some of the new stuff is MAD cool and you can't have it and what's left in your price range isn't all that great compared to some of the nifty new stuff you've seen and then when you request something out of your price range they tell you no and the next day you read about some chick with a blog who gets to review stuff without ever having participated here before and her stuff is all over the $50 limit you have and WAY over the limit some of our hardworking reviewers have and then you find out that regular reviews now also limit your choices instead of just verified reviews and then when you mention any of this stuff people tell you that EF obviously picked it's best reviewers and those with the highest rating and so now, since you didn't get picked, you obviously feel inferior but then you realize that some of the folks who did get picked have been around half the time you have and really don't write all that well and then you start to wonder how they got picked and when cuz, damn, this program has been going on awhile and you never even knew about it and the secrecy starts to get to you, leaving you with a very negative feeling and you're like, fuck, I can't even catch up in rating cuz these folks are getting at least twice the review opportunities that I am unless I spend all my rent money on buy outs and ...
See?
It's not about how much I loathe any individual who gets more toys or has a higher rating or got to do toys more expensive than those I get on their blog. It's not personal. It's not about the people. No one blames the reviewers. And no one is demanding EF do anything to make us feel better.
It's really about venting and sharing feelings and hoping someone will explain some of it.
And writing to admin doesn't make much sense cuz... which one? We don't have a clue who makes these decisions or who created the secrecy or...
Am I making sense?
It's not personal. It's just a sucky time for some of us.
