FTM or MTF: Sit or stand to use the restroom?

Contributor: MJ7 MJ7
Whether you are FTM or MTF, do you sit or stand to pee?

In other words, do you pee the way your parents taught you, or the way your true gender usually does it?

I am FTM, pre-T and pre-op. I was raised to sit to pee like a good little girl, but that never felt right for me. I taught myself how to pee standing up when I was a kid, but almost always (to the present day) sit to pee, just to avoid any "messes".

I have used some homemade STP devices but nothing has been satisfactory. Right now I'm saving up to buy an STP packer, which I'm hoping will help relieve a lot of my dysphoria.

So, how do you go?
And does peeing a certain way make you feel dysphoric?

PS - The "other" category is there in case you do a little of both or would like to explain further

I usually stand, unless I'm in the comfort of my own home. I should be able to use the bathroom however I want at home as long as I don't make a mess @_@. Thankfully no one judges :'P.

I'm FTM, I pee sitting because I'm a cripple and as a man I would pee sitting anyways. And also a lot of men pee sitting because they don't wanna make a mess...

Yes, I certainly know of a lot of cisgender men who sit to pee, for their own personal preference.

I realize that the way you go is up to you, no one should decide how an entire gender should pee.

For me, I just see peeing standing up as one way that will help me to feel more comfortable and less dysphoric.

FTM and I pee sitting down almost 100% of the time. Many cis men sit to pee as well :O it's not actually as uncommon as people think.

I sit, solely because it's a hassle to use my STP device and I rarely have anyone to worry about passing around in the bathroom since I don't use urinals.

I mostly sit, though every once in a while I'll break out the ol' STP and give it a shot. I like my reading time, thanks.

I'm about 60/40 sit/stand. It's all about where I'm at, how clean things are, and how much I've had to drink. I prefer to sit after a few beers, just to prevent any accidental stp leaking. I make the occasional appearance at the urinal at work just because I'm paranoid about someone noticing that I always go to the stall.

A lot of cisgender men use the stalls to pee as well. My partner told me that there is a guy at his work who always uses the stall. (He shared this with me after I asked him questions about what my future trips to the mens room will be like xD)

My MTF girlfriend sits to pee. I stand. It's so fun, and that way I don't have to touch those icky toilets! My parents have actually taught me to it both ways because my parents also hate germs, but I took more of a "froggy squat" position. Now, I just have to pinch certain areas, pull them straight, and I have a perfectly uniform stream!

I wish my parents taught me both ways. That's what I plan to do with my kids.

Sit always. I hate people watching.

Going standing up makes me very uncomfortable, and I outright refuse to use urinals.

My wife is a pre-op transwoman and pees sitting down. Only when we're out in the wilderness will she still pee standing up.

I'm genderqueer (female-assigned at birth) and I usually pee sitting down. I have an STP and really like peeing standing up, but I'm always nervous that someone will walk into the bathroom (I live in a dorm and use a multi-stalled, gender neutral bathroom), see the direction my feet are facing under the stall door, and get weirded out because they think of me as "a girl." The only place I'm really comfy peeing standing up is in the bathrooms at the campus queer resource center.

I can't get good at using a STP or I would stand all the time. So much faster.

I'm to cheep and lazy to worry about the STP and stuff. I just sit. I do stand in the shower and such.

A little background... I am male-born, and haven't transitioned in any way (yet), but I've always felt like I was in the "wrong model" of body. I guess that's a familiar sentiment for many, though.

Case in point: I remember when I was very young, I would always insist on sitting down to pee. My parents didn't like that and would tell me to stand like I was "supposed to"... So I did, although begrudgingly.

I've actually been sitting to pee for many years, now. It's more comfortable, and makes less noise and mess. If I'm in a particularly unpleasant public washroom, I'll stand. I may as well benefit somehow from my born anatomy, right?
