Thank you for all this information, we are looking to get a new bed too.
Sex on a Tempur-Pedic Matress?
07/16/2012
We got one back in May and its different and does take a bit to get used to, but nothing major and its definitely not harder.

BUT................ we've slept MUCH better LOL

To my knowledge some people complain about them. But I have no personal experience

Loved the one me and my ex had since movement wasn't transferred the headboard didn't hit the wall (:

I've never been on one, but my partner has a bed with a memory foam top that makes sex pretty comfy. But if the whole mattress was that foam, I'd imagine it'd be a bit difficult...

We have had a Tempur Pedic, a THICK memory foam pad matress and a Sleep Number bed. Bottom line for us? For our "adult playroom" we chose a nice, firm, Serta Perfect Sleeper.

We all know these mattresses. Made of a foam developed by NASA, it conforms to the shape and weight of your body. You sink in and float away on a cloud of bliss. These are the mattresses where they place a glass on the bed, and jump on the other side of the mattress, and the wine stays standing. But what we never see in the commercials is a couple having sex on one of these beds.
Now, if the foam prevents motion transfer (and believe me, they're not very bouncy) then how in the world do you have sex on it? We had a sneaky opportunity to jump on one in the store (at least we took our shoes off first), and after only a dozen jumps the anti-motion transfer tired our muscles and hurt his knees. Do sexually involved couples not purchase these things? Or are we looking at it all wrong? Anything anyone can post would be helpful, we'd love some insight. less

Sex on those other beds was, in a word, unsatisfying. Water creates motion you must work against, and foam makes motion hard. Slept great on the "alternative" beds, and in fact have a very thick memory foam mattress for sleeping, but for play...sorry...give me firm and bouncy. Thank you.

Interesting. We loved sleeping on it, but hated having sex. We just "sank" into it and moving was like moving in sand. Hard to do and no "recoil".

We do love the bounce and indeed, we do love our Sealy (and Serta, which is in our guest room).

I guess if you require the bed to move a lot (bounce and such) then this could be a problem, but for us it never was. Now, we have a Sealy Posturpedic which I prefer, and it does have the memory foam and helps my bad back. I prefer this one because it has both springs and foam, which does allow it to be a bit more bouncy while still having that wonderful foam, and we do like a bit of bounce because it makes it easier for him to get up (he has bad knees) and we only use a mattress no box springs. Now, the box spring also may make the difference because with the old mattress we had a box spring mattress underneath and it didn't interfere with sex but if you don't use one, maybe it would make it more difficult to move?

Again, we enjoyed a sleep number (our daughter has one in her guest room), but for having sex...not so much.

When we have sex, we max out the pressure to provide for maximum support as we move around. After we're done we can back down the pressure to a more comfortable sleep pressure.

A mattress is really one of those things where you "get what you pay for". It is one thing we never skimp on. However, it is all about feel. I will go to the store and lay on the bed for a minimum of 30 minutes, on my side, the way I sleep. Less then that, and you really don't know how it will feel at home. Doing this has always lead us to be happy with our purchase. We even had a manager of a national mattress store say to us "nice to see someone who really is not in a rush, and knows how to shop for a mattress"!!!

I definitely won't be able to help maneuver a floppy pizza foam mattress with my bad back AND our tiny apartment. Perhaps once we get a bigger place? Thanks for all the info!

Thank you, thank you, thank you for confirming my suspicions! I've always wondered how on earth people could have sex on those things, part of the fun is the "give" of the bed. If all you do is sink, it's no fun anymore and I can just imagine trying to slide your hand under your mate to lift or reposition and it failing miserably.

i always want to go for the tempurpedic when we get a new mattress, but the thought of how sex would be always changes our decision, we always are like, "can we try some positions before buying?" lol

Instead of speculating, sneak into an Art Van furniture store and have a stealthy quickie on a tempurpedic mattress. U dont wanna spend $3000 on a mattress for it to be crappy.

We've never had an issue with our memory foam mattress. Maybe it took a little extra energy to move around but we didn't really notice and if so, then we are in that much better physical shape because of it.
