I trim and keep it "pretty". Occasionally, I will shave completely.

I have a question for the ladies. Is there a specific way to avoid irritation? Is it better to shave against the hair growth (like on your legs), or with it? Does lotion/ certain kinds of shave cream help? Also, I'm using an electric razor and was wondering if a regular razor might be better. Any tips or tricks you want to share would be greatly appreciated : )
