Whoa whoa whoa whoa...Editors?

Contributor: Sir Sir
When did they start this?

I saw on a few reviews that "This review has been edited by..." and an option to rate.

Is there a reason for this? How are we able to become editors?

Nevermind..I get it now.

Are the mentors now able to make edits on our students reviews?

I just applied to be one! From your Dashboard - Eden Tasks (!!!)

I think this is awesome! It will help out the staff and for us folks that love to help, we can

I actually thought of something along these lines a few weeks back and then was going to bring it up in the meeting and missed the meeting last week. Eden is reading my mind

Cool, I wish my grammar knowledge was better, I would so sign up. Still I think this will be a great help to the staff.

I am figuring that that's why they started this - lessen the load on the staff, and reward the higher ranking contributors for their work.

I think it's a great idea. Although I don't know that I would have enough time to edit many reviews.

So do I, I've been wanting to do this for so long.

The staff, Gary mostly, has hinted that a couple of big changes where coming so I am guessing that this is one of them.

Does this mean I won't have to continually edit my own little errors that I find in my own reviews? BTW, I just tried to edit a couple of reviews that I've submitted but haven't been published yet. It appears as if that's no longer possible - which is too bad because I often find little errors after the've been submitted.

If your rank is higher than 5.5 your reviews won't be edited. I also noticed that the assigned review I submitted is no longer able to be edited

Actually, I'm trying to correct little errors in my own recent submissions - which I've always been able to do before. Do you mean we can't edit our own reviews if our rank is above 5.5? I can still edit most of my reviews - just not the ones the haven't been published yet.

Another recent development is that some of my follow-up reviews, that were just submitted, seem to have disappeared into the ether. Interestingly, I submitted several follow-up reviews yesterday and most still haven't shown up. One of them, however, was posted instantly.

Well, I'm liking this new feature, I must admit! I like the idea GREATLY.

Happy Thanksgiving, Miss Cinnamon, hope that you and Mr. Sauce have been well!

Very good idea that I noticed earlier but was waiting for an announcement on

I think I'll pass, I am not sure I am... well grammar smart enough, and plus I don't know if I am ready to take on that kind of responsibility. I still think its a great idea though

DVD reviews will continue to need Admin's approval?

Not so sure I am in love with the rating system on the editor's thing. But who knows it might help in the future. As a Mentor I kind of like to see my studen't personality come out in their reviews so I try not to censor that. If I see a glaring error I'll edit it though. Who knows, this may turn into something I like in the future.. just don't know now.

You're not supposed to edit the personality, only the grammar. That's the trick of being an editor.

I love that you guys have added the Editors guidelines. Even though most, if not all of the grammatical points are obvious to many of us, it is good to have that as a reference so that the editors can run through it like a checklist after doing their own proofread. It actually may also help reviewers to check their own work before submitting it.

Really that is all I have done, just fixed one accidental spelling mistake that happens occasionally to everyone. I am feeling better about it though

Just I am obsessive enough about my reviews, I edit mine atleast 10 times, and then a week goes by I reread it again and find a mistake I just think I am going to stick to Mentorship and maybe later decide on the editor program. The editor guidelines is a great place to start though.

I'm confused. You say I can still edit my own review, but when I try to edit my assigned review that is submitted but not published yet there is no edit button anymore.

Looks like I got shoehorned in? lol I guess I am an editor? All I did was edit a Students grammar mistake. Didn't even have to request.

Won't let me edit my own reviews either.

I still have an edit link for recent reviews.

Could someone direct me to the guidelines explaining how to apply and about the program, as well as an example of this? Sorry, I just now opened up EF for the first time today and am wondering where to find this new feature.

I also can edit recent reviews.

Victor, I voted on your edit on a review. Could it be cuz you are their mentor?

Yeah I believe that is the reason. As for not being able to edit my reviews, right now I am fine with that because I went through them atleast 5 times already, so there shouldn't be a ton of mistakes. Maybe someone has already chosen to edit them.

Here are the guidelines
Editor Guidelines

Anyway, I am just hoping this doesn't unintentionally promote hypercritical grammar (Not that this has happened yet). Its a great idea and well thought out, that is my only concern. Then again, we already face this with review votes, so who knows.

LOL! I totally do that. I have reread things of mine so many times. I usually publish and I catch something after. I find it ... i guess easier to see in that next screen.
