At the risk of sounding like we're placing the blame on Essin' Em, who never held a gun to MY head, I would just like to reiterate that I voted for my own reviews when people knocked a review off-balance because they didn't vote for the review's usefulness, but rather based on personal opinion. I would NEVER vote a negative review for a toy I like as "not useful at all" just because my opinion was different, and I know that we're rating the review, not the toy, but I am positive a lot of people don't catch the distinction.
New contributor rank model has been released.

I love Essin' Em. I hope I didn't come off like that!
I just read that a few months ago, when I was new to the site, and knowing she's a sex goddess, took it and did place a vote on a few of my reviews that I thought were downgraded for no reason. I like what Bulma said about requiring a(n anonymous) comment for a negative review.
I agree with you. I know I'm not a perfect writer, and I sometimes may miss things, but I don't think my reviews are "Not Useful at All".
If Edens doesn't want us doing this, that's fine. It's their company. I just wish it would have been published in an easily accessible area before now. I feel like I got caught with my hand in the cookie jar. :/

Given that not everyone reads the forum, and the new rating system... I don't think we should worry too much about the past and the fairly common practice of voting once for your review. I do think it's important that an email be sent to ALL reviewers immediately to clarify this though.

Ditto. I would also suggest sending an e-mail to all users to clarify that you are rating the quality of the review, not how much you agree with it, or the toy itself.

BD: didn't mean it like that--sorry if it sounded that way! I just didn't want Essin' Em to think we were all blaming her, because I don't even recall her making that post. I have the memory of a goldfish.

I don't remember a post or comment by Essin' Em, but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist. If it came from her there is a reason to believe that at the time that Eden supported that policy at the time or that there was NOT a policy.
At one point in time Essin' Em actually worked for Eden. Nobody can be held responsible for a policy that was not made clear. Eden has changed policies before without notice. They've made incredible strides cleaning that up, and publicizing what everything actually means.

An email would be awesome, that way everyone would be aware. It would be easy for eden to do besides. Great suggestion Devilbluedress!

I was just curious - you list "Writing reviews" at 28% but what does that mean? How is that broken down?
11/07/2008
Quote:
28% is the weight of review activity parameter in contributor rank. Review activity reflects the ratio between number of your reviews relatively to the average maximum of reviews between the top contributors.

I know this is a bit old but can this information be put someplace in the account section so it's easily accessible?

What about a separate forum thread with no responses allowed, in the meantime, used just for updating us on info like this?

That way we'd have a single place we could go looking for rules and guidelines and new projects and whatnot.

but this only adds up to 98% ... Activity factor adds to 40%, quality adds to 58%
If you're looking for a place to put the extra 2%, I vote under writing followups

It has 42% for Activity and 58% for Quality, and does have followups as part of it.
