#EdenUpdate - Best Practices: Basic Community Standards

What if the post has been posted but it was YEARS ago. The older threads almost never get activity and I would prefer to have an active conversation. Which is more likely if it's a new thread.

Super useful.

That's fine. No one expects anyone to kick up a post from years back.

I definately agree with this suggestion after joining forums that have nothing to do with this site. Those sites get confusing on the do's and don'ts. If they had something such as this and maybe a check box to show you have read and understood it would make those communities more enjoyable.

I mean there's a chance people won't look for it even if its right in front of them or check the threads referencing it. I don't want to sound pushy of anything but maybe when they make an account part of the process could be to go over the EoC? I know this doesn't mean they will for sure but at least so it's confirmed that at one point, it was right in front of peope. Just a suggestion

This is good for those who do not know about the search features. But the search itself should be fixed up a bit. Take the part below about building confusing thread titles. What if my question was asked before but the context was all off and it doesn't come up in a search? I've had difficulties in the past with this feature and had to remember who started the thread in order to find it because it wouldn't come up by the subject/keywords.

This sounds like a really good thing. Part of making an account could involve an easy quiz on the EoC?

Great idea! Perhaps, as part of the sign-up process, a few points could be given for reading & then passing a simple comprehension quiz @ the end?

Expectations of Conduct:The first very thing you are going to want to do is read through the Expectations of Conduct. The EoC can be found at the top of the forum. Everyone should read this and become familiar with it. This goes over the rules of the community and what happens if they are violated. This is awsome. But I hate to tell you this is still the hardest forum to find my way around in and I have been on at least 10 tech forums almost became a moderator on one and it took me forever to figure this one out. I realize the topic is quite different than computer topics but I was really starting to feel illiterate. I am or was as far as knowing much about sex despite 50 years of having it. I gotta be the only person who didn't know my own body till I bcame 64. Course that is society. And our upbringing and church background. Moms advice on my marriage was just lay there and let him do what he wants. Not very good advice but its all she knew too. Bless her heart. She even admitted that I had more experience when I got married than she did.
