Yes please!
Eden Needs a place to upload photos...

yes please!

I think it would be awesome to have a centralized place, but as a person who works in IT, it's not a cheap endeavor. I honestly think relying on the places that do it best is probably the way to go.

I really like photos with reviews, so seems like a good idea.

That is a poor solution, IMO. For those who already have a flickr and need privacy or who do not, they have to create yet another account.. Since EF already has some photo support, why not expand it?

They don't even need to let people link to those photos offsite -- just so that we can post them in reviews.

The issue to me is having a site to upload the photos that allows for nudity and what might be considered questionable content. Both Flickr and Photobucket do not allow it. You can try to use privacy settings, but it's not a guarantee. I first used Flickr, set my account to private, and still had my account and pictures deleted. I now use Photobucket, but the risk still exists. It would be nice if EF offered a better solution to guarantee the safety of our images, particularly since it impacts the reviews on the site.
On a separate note, I was testing Picassa as a hosting site and came across something interesting. I test linked a picture and it worked fine, but even though I deleted the picture in my Picassa album, the image is still available on EF. I have no explanation for this phenomena. BTW, Picassa is not a viable option either because Google explicitly prohibits any nudity/questionable content.

It's true, it doesn't solve the problem of having a place to upload photos that won't get deleted for "content" issues.

The only solution to that would be to have a few people screen through them and get raid of images that are not allowed. I guess it would required them having to add a lot more to Eden, but what they could do is add something that is like Eden Tasks, for the photo screening. A random selection of people are picked to screen through the uploaded photos and delete the ones that are against the guidelines that are set.

The idea of having a group of people screen photos is an excellent idea.

I would LOVE to be able to upload photos directly onto Eden.

It would be nice and convenient to upload to the site, but it's not a huge deal.
01/05/2012
I never thought of that. I just use my own server!

I don't mind using the Eden Flickr account, but having something on here would be nice too

the flickr is definitely a useful resource but for those of us who are shy it would be easier to be able to discreetly have images hosted here and not have to juggle other hosting sites...

I know you can make your album private, but wouldn't it be easier if we could upload our photos here on Eden. You can use the product pages on some items, but not all of them, so that does not always work.
