Eden Needs a place to upload photos...

Contributor: Beck Beck
Do you agree?

I know many have complained about photo bucket, flickr, and so on flagging their photos and removing them, then you have no photos on your review. I know you can make your album private, but wouldn't it be easier if we could upload our photos here on Eden. You can use the product pages on some items, but not all of them, so that does not always work.

I am not sure how it would work.
I am on the fence about it.

I don't like uploading to the product page because I can't keep things organized that way. A photo uploading system like Photobucket that didn't screen for "adult" photos would be nice.

I have had much better luck since making my albums private, but I'd still prefer to use Eden than Photobucket!

I have luck doing it that way also, but I do find it a pain to open a new tab and upload my photos. I like to use the product page, but only if I have a few photos, however I can not do that for lingerie and more.

I use livejournal. I prefer it that way because I can control the layout and I don't have to worry about losing the actual picture should something happen to my computer if I haven't done a back up recently.

I would love to be able to do this and when I was first adding pictures to a review I would have thought there would have been an option to upload to EF. But there was not

I think this would be an awesome feature and could be limited to photos only. To be able to organize them into categories, or for each review and other reasons too. I use flickr but don't really like having to upload there, make them private, then spend all that extra time finding the HTML link to the picture to be able to link over here at EF.

I will use flickr if I have too, but if EF were to offer photo uploading/organizing that I would switch over in a heart beat.

Yes please give us something easier, when I first tried to put a pic on a review I had such a hard time because I did not understand what I was doing wrong. Even still I have trouble every time I try to put a pic on here.

A reason for EF to host pictures instead would be that Eden would still have the photos if the reviewer deletes their photo-host account or album or whatever. While going through old blog entries, it's frustrating to see that 'photo is unavailable' icon when the article is talking about something so awesome it has to be seen to be appreciated. I'd hate for the same thing here when a review is talking about the battery compartment or something and the photo isn't there anymore so we can see what the reviewer is talking about.

That is a good point. I hate when that happens also.

Does Livejournal flag/remove adult photos?

Agreed. Eden could, however, keep a review of a deleted member, but just not identify it with anyone once the account is gone. That way, the review could stay intact.

I feel the same way about photo bucket, while I do like making collages with has to be done there, it is a pain to have to go to a completely other site for photos.

They reserve the right to do so, but I've never seen them take down anything and I've seen some pretty wicked stuff on LJ. I just mark them as friends only so that no one can complain.

May have to look into that one. Although my photobucket stuff is working out now that my album is private, but I have students that ask me how to do it and their photos are being flagged/removed, which I understand you do not want naughty pics on a family site, but most of the time they are not that bad and no different then wearing a bikini.

photobucket once shut me down, but i put it on private and have had no troubles. flickr is nice in that you can just say that it's adult content, but the problem is that i also use my flickr for pictures of my kids and also for my professional photography business, so dildos don't really fit there.

i would, however, love to be able to host my photos here on eden.

Oh I totally agree, I mean every business has that right but sometimes it's really over the top. I think livejournal just has a better policy about stuff like that since it was one of the first blogging sites.

One thing about LJ though is that it is now owned by a Russian company, and they are regularly hit by DDOS attacks (all reports say it is connected to Russian politics, as LJ is the most popular blog site in the country, there are elections upcoming, and freedom of speech still takes a hit there). Just saying, there have been times in the past year that it has been unreliable for days or weeks at a time.

Excellent point. It would also make it much easier to get pictures in reviews and for people like me, keep them there!!

I think it would be great, esp. If they were visible at the bottom of the product page, or had a link to all of the photos. Would be helpful not to have to dig through reviews to find ones with pics of what it is you are curious about, such as color comparison.

Photobucket totally deleted my account one day with no warning, even though I had my pictures set to private. I'm using Imageshack now, and haven't had any problems so far, fingers crossed.

I agree that it would be nice to be able to host pictures on EF. I know you can do it on some of the product pages, but I'm not a big fan of that. If there was a section in my account where I could upload pictures and keep track of them all in one place, I would definitely use it.

I sometimes upload to the product page and then use that link. There are plenty of places that allow free adult image hosting. It's really not an issue.

I would really like it if EF could host photos - sometimes it's possible to upload them on the main product page and then use that link to make them appear in your review but that doesn't seem to be true for all toys. If you look at my review of the RealTouch, you'll see that I was able to upload a photo on EF. That review may be found here: link

You can also see that it's hosted on EF by looking at this link: link

Too funny, I was just thinking the same thing tonight and was wondering how most people here upload photos to include in their reviews. Maybe EF will come through and make this easier on all of us. I guess it comes down to an argument on their part if they foot the bill for increased storage space to accomodate all of the pics.
