If I see a product that has only received 3 stars or less on the site I usually just pass over it even if I would otherwise be interested, especially if a significant amount of people have voted on it. Do you also set a minimum star limit before considering a product?

Do you set a minimum star requirement for products you buy?

I don't trust the star ratings that much, I'd rather read a few reviews to work out if something is suited to me.
04/08/2012
I dont go by the stars, I just try and find what I think will work for me.
04/08/2012
I go by material it is made out of the reviews.

I usually look at the star rating to see what it says, but I don't go by it because everyone has their own logic behind their star rating, so that would be too subjective go on on solo. I read the reviews and check out the product page to see if I am still interested.

I find that there are just too many products to spend time on ones that receive low ratings. I'm the same way about the films I go see. If rotten tomatoes gives a film something like a 20% I know I'm probably gonna hate it, so I don't spend money on going to see it. Same thing when I see a toy get something like two stars, even if I was initially interested I'd rather find something that some or most people really enjoyed. That's one reason I find this whole site so invaluable, I hate going blind into any purchase.

Not really. If it's something I really want, I might consider that, but generally, I read all the reviews to see what the people disliked about it, and decide if that would be a problem for me, or not.

I personally dont pay much attention to the stars. If I love a toy, I love a toy, regardless of others ranking of that toy.
04/08/2012
I look at the stars, but you can't always go by them. If it is a new item, it may not have stars yet.

Nope, I never go by stars. I read reviews and base my decision off them for the most part. Some things I'll still buy though, even if they get bad reviews. Just because something got a 3*, doesn't necessarily mean it's a bad product (or average even). I'd rather find out WHY it got 3*.....just because someone else didn't like it, doesn't mean that I won't.

I don't really care about the stars. I go by the material and design, read the most helpful reviews and even message the reviewer if I have more questions about the item.

I use the reviews to help me make my decisions; and I don't use just one review on a product. I compare several different reviews on one product that I may be interested in. If I keep going back to look at it after that, then I buy.
04/08/2012
I really don't even look at the stars. I read a few reviews, especially from contributors I know usually have the same likes/dislikes/body type as myself before making a decision.
04/08/2012
The stars are helpful with they have the chart with the breakdown of how many of each.
04/08/2012
I generally avoid toys below three or four stars, but only because toys with less seem to be near-universally reviled. I'm much more interested in reviews and other details.

I do not generally go by star ratings, because everyone likes different things. I judge more by material and Vroom rating.
04/08/2012
I am pretty picky about material and stuff like that. Not so much stars because not every has the same way of rating stuff, you know?
04/08/2012
We don't even consider a toy that can't put out at least 4 stars.
04/09/2012
I always read the reviews if it's something I'm interested in, even if it has less than 5 stars.
04/09/2012
Stars don't matter to us. We're more interested in reviews, size, and material.
04/09/2012
I read the reviews and look for reviews by people who like the same kind of stuff and strength I like for vibrators.
For instance, the Mimi has 4.5 stars. I'm 99.9999% sure it wouldn't work for me, though. I don't think it's strong enough. (It is very rare that anything this side of Wahl or Hitachi vibrations will get me there, though.)
I would prefer to read the reviews and look to people who have similar response system to what I have.

I have a question. Where does the toy's rating come from? At first I thought it was the avarage of the reviewer's ratings. But now I wonder if it comes from the rate the product on the product page. I have noticed that many people rate a toy and indicate that they haven't tried it yet. This confuses me!
When I buy I read the reviews and ask questions.

I believe it is based on anyone who rates the product and not just the reviewers, although I'm not positive about that.
