#Workshop - Nov. 30th @7pm: "Writer's block" and "Follow-ups - any gravy left in that toy?"

Contributor: El-Jaro El-Jaro
Hello All!

For those keeping score at home: Wednesday 11/30 is the next Review Program Workshop.

Last time, we discussed the things you've learned from/about/through the Review Program. What's been the biggest help to you for writing reviews? Who's been your biggest influence? What's the hardest part for you when working on a review?

This time, we’ll be discussing dealing with writer’s block, how to deal with “Where do I start?”, and finishing the left-overs with Follow-up reviews (Is there any gravy left?).

So, bring your stories, comments, and suggestions Mentors, Students, Affiliates, and Reviewers of all levels!

See you all Wednesday 11/30!

I like the gravy analogy--so appropriate for Thanksgiving!!!

This will be SO useful. I often find myself getting "stuck" in the middle of a review or after drafting it and thinking "I'm totally missing something! I can feel it! But I have no idea what..."

Awesome! I'm just getting started on this site so I can't wait for this!

I'm pretty excited for this meeting---I'm pretty new to descriptive reviews, and they keep giving me stage fright! For the normal reviews, I can just tell myself if people don't like my style they don't have to read my review... but the DR's are all prominent, and even people who are just casually browsing the site will see the summary! My first one, on a g-spot cream, wasn't too scary... but I was super nervous for the Hand Solo because of the excitement it generated... and now I have the We-Vibe 3! Expensive, and high-profile, and I don't even have the We-Vibe 2 to compare it with! Ipe.

I've got the packaging section done... but y'all should cheerlead me into finishing the rest.

Also, for my normal reviews, I use the item at least three or four times before I write the review. With a DR, though, where we're supposed to get them in quicker... how many trial runs do you guys usually give products?

Oh wow - so you're getting more items fairly quickly? Neat! I need to turn in my floggers this weekend - I emailed the company to find out how to clean them.

I'm a nervous wreck about my DRs and turning them in.

I can sometimes do a DR with only using a product once or twice but, really, that's all I give for regular reviews, too. I'm super impatient so if a toy doesn't attract my attention quickly, it's out.

I make a mean cup of emailable tea... or you could all request your favorite flavors of pie, and tell me coordinates at which to frisbee them!

There was this hotel clerk in Rockford, Ill that my dad made the whole family come into the lobby to observe the haircut of.

That was terrible grammar but this man's haircut is like the strongest memory I have of northwest Chicago, and also from age 5 cumulatively.

All right! I'm chipping away at my DR, and I'm feeling ready to re-evaluate the gravy in allll the toys that I need to followup about. Hooray today!

I'm in the throes of writer's block right now.

I wish I could make it.

I'll have to read the thread afterward, JR.

I can hardly wait. I so need this. I have about 14 items I want to review - items I've purchased, some I've been sent for assignments whether its descriptive review, normal assignment or buy-out.

But I don't want the quality of my writing to drop - after all - about 10 of these don't have a deadline on them (and they're probably the easiest ones to do).
