I don't wear makeup but I have worn lip gloss before so that was fun to do. I went out and bought three cheap brands to compare it to for stickiness, etc. so I could say something about the lip gloss. Turns out -I liked the cheap brands the best (and I paid less than $4 for those three combined).

But there are others that don't necessarily have experience with makeup that may appreciate your perspective. I didn't have any experience packing, well because I'm a guy, but I still was interested in doing the review. Sometimes inexperience leads to a better review because you don't have any preconceived notions. Just be thorough. That's why I think a good mentor can help anyone. Not because they have diverse experience but because they can guess what questions people might ask.

If all else fails, be as objective as possible. If something doesn't tickle your fancy, just say why.
