Yes, it's awesome.
Do you own a Blu-Ray player?
05/08/2011
Don't have. Might when I upgrade my desktop.
07/30/2011
We don't have a Blu-ray player yet, it's not a priority, and prices drop every day.
07/30/2011
Yes I do not have one yet and when I do get one hopefully I can keep it.
07/30/2011
DVDs are just fine for me, so no.
07/30/2011
Nope

P.S. I've even made two thread looking for Blu-Ray recommendations one for adult films: link one for everything else: link

So, my simple question is: Do you own a Blu-Ray Player?

We have a regular DVD player in the bedroom, it's basically a "Porn Station." We have a combination VHS/DVD player in the living room. We bought it to turn all our VHS tapes of the kids as babies into DVDs. We've had it for years and never done it.
Then, our TV broke and we had to get a new one, and all they basically sell is HD TVs. SOoo, now our DVD player in the living room doesn't work properly with the TV. The color is off and you have to go through perambulations just to get a DVD in there.
Eventually we'll get a new DVD player, maybe a BluRay, maybe not.

BluRay is backward compatible - so there's no reason not to have one.

Any idea if they come with VHS as well? We have the kids's childhoods on VHS tapes and I still want to keep being able to watch them.

I haven't seen a combination BluRay VHS player - we got rid of the VHS tapes a couple of years ago - but who knows. I have seen machines that can take a VHS and make a DVD out of it - that's probably the way to go.

I do *kind of* own a blu-ray player. My laptop has a high def monitor and therefore a blu-ray drive as well (though it plays dvds too). I don't plan on getting 8 million and 12 blu-rays but I will admit I think something like Inception would look great in hi def. However, I think I'm with the rest of yall... I really really don't need my porn in hi def. As Emma alluded to, it ruins the fantasy, and what is porn BUT fantasy?

I will. I love visually striking movies, (just ask my netflix) However I do not feel the need to see every detail in everything that I watch. I enjoy the distinction between fantasy and real life.

I honestly couldn't imagine not having a high def tv and a PS3. Having been spoiled for the last few years with both, it's hard to think about going back to standard.
The clarity in the image quality alone is worth it. Not to mention increased sound quality, disc capacity for storage and extras. Also, BD Live is an incredible extra you can't get without a Blu-Ray player.
When Sherlock Holmes was released on blu, there was a special viewing of the movie that you could access by having your Blu player online. You were able to watch the movie with Robert Downey Jr and interact with him while watching. That's just phenomenal. No way I'd ever think of normal dvds again.
For any that are on the fence about it, don't be. You can get a great samsung high definition television for $300. Blu-ray players for around $150. Well worth it.

I don't own a blu-ray player for my television, but I have one in my computer and that's where I watch most of my movies.

We'll have to look into it. As soon as things get a bit better. Thank you for the info. I actually haven't been shopping for one, so I wasn't sure what was out there.

Never had a blue ray. I don't have a television worth getting one for yet.

Never really thought it was necessary to own a blue ray player? Am I really so behind the times not having one ?
10/16/2011
I am perfectly happy with my DVD player. Which is my laptop. I would only get a blu-ray player if companies stopped making DVDs and only did Blu-Ray DVDs. I would rather spend the money I save by buying regular instead of blu-ray on my hobbies like knitting and crocheting.
10/18/2011
i will probably get one after the new year. Would like one but dont feel the need to jump right on it yet.

If you have an HDTV (720p or 1080i or 1080p) that's at least 36 inches then I'd recommend it. If you have an HDTV of 46 inches or more, then I'd very highly recommend it. Not just for porn, but for any movies you watch.

If your TV is not HD, then Blu-ray is entirely pointless (as you won't be able to see the extra quality.)
11/01/2011
Yes I got one
11/01/2011
Yeah I do, but the computer that has the Blu-Ray drive is currently out of commission due to a blown power supply, bleh!

Yes, I have a BluRay player, IE a PS3. I never use it to watch HD movies though.
