Hey y'all, sorry I'm late. I got caught up in my next work shop. But I'm here, ready to spread some orange lube all over the place.

Jack o' Lanterns originated in Ireland where it was common to place candles in hollowed-out turnips. This was done around the Samhain holiday in an attempt to keep away spirits and ghosts. ... more
Huh. It could be interesting to try making one of those to get the authentic experience.

I didn't!

Did you know that you can make some really neat jack o' lanterns by using pumpkins that are naturally blue in color? They also come in a green variety and a white variety. This can make for a rainbow effect for your next Halloween!

Thanks Kindred, I think you just sold me the Goodfella, but then, I wish the Bandit was in store. I was hesitating between those two.

I appreciate that, and it's something I'll keep in mind for later. I'm feeling like it's time for a change, but I want to play around with some wash-out colors before I get to the bleach-and-color stage.

hoooly shit. i stand corrected.

they started stocking white ones in our krogers this year but their initial appeal wore off fast. pumpkins to me are the REAL halloween pumpkins. white ones are just wannabes.

Same here! I've had mine blue, pink, and green before, and the only reason it isn't pink and black now is because I'm a homebody and it's too much to maintain for that.

The blue ones are called Hubbards. I grow a subvariety called a Sweet Meat.
