Like said to Tim, you can still get good photos out of a "cheap" P&S if you know how to work it. It's easier with a better camera, of course, but still quite possible.

I have always been interested in photography I think its beautiful how a picture or painting can capture you. In college I did take one class. I think it was intro to photography. With a manual camera, I liked being in the dark room. Unfortunately I my mom gave the camera away. I have a cheap digital point and shoot camera but hope in the future to get a better one and start taking pics again.

I definitely enjoyed the hands on feeling of being able to process and develop my own film, and then turn it into a real live picture. In fact, I think I still have a giant box of photo paper that's not doing me any good right now...

Welcome. I'm seriously hoping you get involved. I want to see pictures of Alaska.

your welcome and this is a good point, not only the invonvenience but the worry of not letting anything happen to it.

I started on film (including developing it), but I love digital at this point. There is nothing I can't do with digital that I couldn't do with film. Of course, I also have the $1000 Photoshop CS5...

Very true, mine will fit in a shirt pocket. My old 35mm was like a small suitcase with all the lenses and flash etc..

OK, now for the real reason you're here:
OK, who wants to win a $25 gift card? I guess that question was rhetorical, because I can’t imagine any of you don’t want one. I hope you all read the articles I’ve been posting on the Eden Clubs and Events Blog, because that is from where this question is drawn. Ready?

If it's not been exposed to light, it can last a while, especially if it's been kept in proper condition (in a dark refrigerator, it can last up to or over 10 years.) RC paper will last longer than fiber paper, too, and I'm assuming you don't have fiber paper. If you do ever get back into manual printing, you can just do a time test on a sheet and see how it comes out--you might be surprised that it's just fine.

All right, here we go...

The winner of a $25 gift certificate will be the first person who can tell me what the three most important settings are on a digital camera for adjusting exposure.

Huh, I never realized how long the paper could last. It's been sitting in my closet, and the temperatures in my room go from one extreme to the other generally. It's also a high-gloss paper, which I've never had any real liking for.

Side note, if anybody would like my photo paper, let me know, and I'll see how much I actually have there, lol.

Photo paper is meant to last, not degrade, and I've heard of people who still (STILL!) print on circa 1992 paper successfully.
