Self made dishes taste better?

Contributor: Bleu Bleu
Whether it's too salty, sweet, overcooked, or just plain off...do your self made (or dishes made by a loved one) taste better to you?

I find that when I cook for myself I love whatever I cook no matter what and I'm always shocked when I don't end up killing someone because I cooked for them. My friend attempted to make onigiri once (rice balls) and she totally undercooked the rice but it was the tastiest crunchy creation just knowing she went through all that work for me.

I always think my food tastes the worst but my boyfriend reassures me that it's AMAZING! I don't know where he gets that idea...but it's sweet of him to lie to me lol

I think it does because you've put effort into it that those little things might not matter.

It really depends on what it is I feel. Not to mention that you can make any dish to your taste when cooking whereas restaurants just make it however they decide

I much prefer making everything myself with ingredients that I pick.

Homemade always tastes better. There are no preservatives, etc. that gets in the way of what the food tastes like....even with mistakes!!

Homemade is definitely healthier most of the time, but the way it tastes can vary unless you're good at it.

Definitely! I've been making homemade Chinese food lately and even that tastes better to me than take out. Occasionally my partner and I will make something that isn't too great but it's never terrible or inedible.

most things taste better home made. there are a few things that we cant cook at home, either because we dont have the tools or the space. then they taste better at the restaurant.

Yup. I feel so accomplished being able to make something physical that it tastes all the more delicious for that.

I don't like the taste of my own cooking.

Self made dishes taste better most of the time. I like to grill my own steaks for that reason.

Homemade usually taste better, but sometimes there's a specific taste that only restaurants can replicate.

I guess I'm in the minority here, but I think going to a restaurant nearly always tastes better than anything either of us make at home. I can think of very few exceptions to that.

Only things we like getting out better are pizza, BBQ and most ethnic foods. We do tend to care for more pricy restaurants.

I love to cook but when I mess up by cooking something I am unsure about I make sure to say something like," I wasn't sure how to fix this so if you don't like it, it's okay."

I always think my dishes are better when I cook them myself but that may just be because I can add whatever I want to dishes to make them taste better.
