If the ends justify the means kinda thing?

That was something that we were discussing early on... not every ideas has to involve giving money or points. Do small things, or local things, and sharing them to inspire the others is just as significant. Like the clothing drives, helping at soup kitchen, if you live in a city - there is always some overgrown lot filled with trash, there are animal shelters, etc.

I do agree that BIG campaigns every month might being taxing, but that is not what anyone is trying to do.

I'm just saying that it happens, not that it is necessarily a good idea.

I fall on both sides. I'm a gamer, so I see the the attraction of achievement badges, I really do. But I already struggle with reviewing insecurities. So I really don't know how I feel about it.

True to some extent, but maybe there could be badges for other activities. Like logging in for a certain amount of days in a row or something...mmm..just tossing it around.

I don't eat beef, and it is quite unfortunate that so few places make pure-lamb gyro meat anymore (sorry, Ewegenia ).

I'm going to take some pictures of the build site and so forth for my Habitat project.

I didn't publish it here because I use my real name, but I did get almost ALL my donations from EF friends.

I LURVE You guys for that. My own friends did NOT donate to this project and I want to share the results of EF's efforts with ya!

Do you have any Bosnian places? Most of them are teeny tiny, but they're authentic....

I think any volunteer work is great and should be lauded. For example, I do environmental volunteer work.

Right? Because once you are logged in odds are you are going to scan over the site a little more each time and it may help people get more comfortable with it.

Exactly - small one person projects still matter. In fact sometimes they can even be more personal and specific because it is not a group. Like in Taco's case - we supported her by donating, but she had to train on her own and still has to run the marathon.

Gyros are the only thing I'll actually eat lamb in. I've had ground lamb once or twice when my mother in law made it while we were in high school, but I've never been a fan. And I feel bad eating lamb, lol

Haha yes! That would be cool.

You know, I think people will get over their insecurities eventually if they keep trying. Perhaps badges for a certain amount of reviews or for just review writing period. What intimidates me is that everyone won't find my reviews useful. So if there were badges for other activities I think that would be a good thing.

I also like the animal shelter idea very much!!

There are a few. I've never been there, though. We have a tiny Uzbek place that puts beef in everything too. I understand why they do it ($), but it limits my menu options considerably.

This just reminded me... very off topic... here in Philly right by those famous rivaling steak joints (Pat's & Geno's) there is a GREAT Mexican food place and you can goat meat tacos there! I love that place!!!

We do fund raisers at the local American Legion and benefit rides raising money for the county orphanage and wounded and fallen soldiers. Its very rewarding. I think once people get involved in volunteering, its hard to step away. There are so many in need one way or another.
