What do you think about Blu-Ray?

My boyfriend has his own Blockbuster, I swear. He has over 1,000 DVDs and over 50 BluRays (regular movies, not adult content). I never thought that HD would make that big of a difference until I saw my first BluRay and was totally taken back by the quality of the sound and video.

I do agree that you should have a pretty high-quality player, HDTV and sound system to really experience it. Otherwise, it's not worth the cost.

I love Blu-ray for movies, but for porn I really don't think it is necessary. I really don't want to see all the imperfections on porn stars butts and whatnot. Besides, we aren't really paying that much attention to it usually anyways.

i only buy bluray movies when i can get them pretty cheap. I have not seen porn in high def yet, but i have not heard good things from buddies that have. Im not sure if they are just watching badly produced titles, or if that goes for all hi-def porn.

I wish I could even thing about things like this. *sigh* I'm years away from even considering it.

Our television is a piece of shit. Everybody is orange and looks like they have jaundice, and everything has a halo around it and is too bright. In a normal household, it would be in the trash. BUT.

My Man's mother "gave" us this piece of shit TV a few months ago. We had decided we would get a nice, but not too expensive (as we can't afford it) medium large screen TV for the living room when our nearly 20 year old Sony finally died. The Sony finally died a few weeks ago, but, SHIT, we had that pile of shit from his mother, which actually turned out worse than the TV we swapped it for. My Man threw the old TV away, before even realizing that the TV his mother "gave" us (translation: it was easier for her to make My Man take it home to us than to have someone bring it to the curb.) was a piece of 25 year old shit.

She only gives us crap and things we don't want. I always try to say NO to her "gifts" but he "doesn't want to hurt her feelings." Why? Because she doesn't want to throw things away, but doesn't WANT them because they aren't "GOOD ENOUGH" for herself?

If she hadn't given us this old broken down pile of shit, we'd have a decent TV right now. But, God help us, it was "a gift" from his mother, so there it sits. Giving me a frigging migraine with it's crappy picture.

It is right to give someone a "gift" of a 25 year old piece of shit that you KNOW doesn't work right and not tell them it's garbage?

The woman cleans her damn house and gives us the shit that should go into the garbage. WHY?

Sorry for the rant. But, I can't even imagine being able to think about things like BluRay..... Our regular DVD player doesn't even work properly. I'm surprised his mother didn't give us a pop up VHS or Beta player from her basement that they should have throw away in the early 1980s....

I don't have a blue ray player so I guess it doesn't matter much to me. I have never watched anything on blue ray so I don't know if the quality is better or not. Sounds like a lot of money so I stay out.

Blu-Ray is definitely worth it. High-def TV makes normal TV look like crap. Blu-Ray movies often go on sale for $10 and some titles go on sale for $5 at Target and Walmart and Amazaon. Plenty of decent HDTVs cost under $500 and Blu-Ray players go on sale for $60. I don't know why people are deterred by price.

Because we have kids in college, and one at home, and My Man hasn't had a raise in 5 years and I can't find a job and we don't have $560.00 to spend on "entertainment." Honestly, we live in Chicago, and I have NEVER seen a BluRay player for anywhere near $60.00, not even at Walmart. Not here.

I guess I have to put up with "crap" for TV. Damn, I wish I HAD an extra $500.00+ right now. I wish I had an extra $100.00. But, I'd pay bills with it....

That's a matter of your own finances rather than the price and worth of Blu-ray.

If you check out the hot deals forum at slickedeals.net, $60 Blu-ray players were common on Black Friday. Best Buy currently has one on sale for $80 and Beach Camera has one online for $65. Some Walmart stores have one on sale for $50.
