The Playtoys purple pleasure ripple is a semi-realistic vibrator. EdenFantasys.com lists its material as vinyl rubber; out of the package it put off a very strong chemical odor. Even after sitting out in my bathroom for several days and undergoing my usual pre-use toy cleaning, its odor is still moderately strong. I have trouble with this. I'd prefer my sex-toys smelled like me, or like nothing at all. The Ripple is firm but slightly squeezable. It looks like a life-size extra-veiny upturned cock complete with a perky purple head. It's very attractive. Were it made of a different material (ie, one that didn't put off such an odor) I'd be tempted to practice my deep-throating skills on it. Because vinyl rubber is porous and can be stained, you'd probably want to use a condom on the toy to make it easier to clean. The toy requires 2 "AA" batteries, which go into a water-resistant compartment on the end. I had trouble getting the cover back on the compartment and briefly thought that the toy was defective. Once sealed up, it is surprisingly quiet, although the batteries do rattle a bit when the toy is cranked up to full speed. The Purple Pleasure Ripple produces moderately strong vibrations, which are concentrated in the head of the toy. It felt great for vaginal thrusting (covered with a condom, of course) and pretty good when rubbed on my clit. I used this toy for a warm-up only. It was not powerful enough to get me off, but I'm one who likes reeeeeaaaly strongly vibrating sex toys. If you like more subtle vibrations, this toy would be great for you. A nice new feature on EdenFantasys.com is their "1:1 View Actual Size" option. It's always a challenge to get an accurate impression of how large a toy is when it's just a picture on a web-page, but with this new feature, you can compare a toy to some common household items (a ruler, dollar bill, or credit card) to gauge its size. Nice touch, EdenFantasys! I'd give the Playtoys Purple Pleasure Ripple two stars out of five. The rating would be higher, but even as I write this, I can smell the chemically odor from the toy as it sits here on my desk, and to me, that's just not sexy.
