We don’t think anyone will be surprised to learn that losing one’s virginity, as exciting or as wrenching or all-mixed-up as it can be, is not the most stressful life experience, ever. It just might seem like it at the time, yeah.
Buying a new home is worse. So is having surgery. Getting married is more stressful than first-time sex … and so is starting a new job. At the top of the list—the most stress ever? It’s from childbirth.
We don’t just make this stuff up, of course. The mostly “shucks, coulda guessed that” info comes from a survey commissioned by the Canadian television show “Rookie Blue,” a police drama that follows the life of five rookie cops and how they learn to balance their duty as police officers and still meet expectations of their family and friends.
Childbirth was deemed the most stressful life experience by a majority of both men and women. Way further down the list we find “first kiss,” which makes us remember ours … me remember mine. Awkward. Didn’t plan it. Braces were involved. How about you?
The survey reminds us, anyway, that the best things in life are stressful sometimes, too—especially when they’re new. We tip a glass to all our readers who are trying new things, sexually and otherwise.
