Thank you, Alberta, Canada, for bringing us the funniest syphilis awareness website we've seen yet.
So you're bumbling around the web, looking for a good website to, say, teach your kid about STDs and you find a website called PlentyofSyph.com. It looks like a dating site, so you just click away ... Wait! It looks like a dating site? A dating site for people with syphilis? Because it makes more sense to find someone else with syphilis to have sex with than to just get treated?
Then you scroll down and there's a meter for what stage their disease is in and how contagious it is. And the poll. Oh the poll! "Risk the syph!" or "Pass on the ass!" rather than "Hot" or "Not" so you can rate each person. They've even made fake dormant-case accounts and accounts for people banned for being treated.
But what really takes the cake are the names (scratchNsyph and dirtysanchezzz), taglines and profile information.
All of it's made up. A PSA from a misguided government trying to raise awareness about a disease that for a while you hardly ever heard of. We laughed. You will, too.
