Editor's Note: This story was revealed as an apparent hoax, two days after the mom went on Good Morning America. When the details are sorted out, we'll post a link here to some story that seems to have the most truth about what actually happened. For now, it seems likely that the child in the story did NOT get Botox injections.
So did you hear the one about the 8-year-old girl getting Botox? If you rolled your eyes and thought, “Must be one of those pageant moms,” you'd be correct.
Britney, the little girl, as is usually the case, is positively adorable. She appears happy and well adjusted, no thanks to Mom's extreme approach to beauty. And she makes a good case, on Good Morning America, for the treatment.
“I just, like, don't, like, think wrinkles are nice on little girls.” Britney told Lara Spencer. “It looks way better.”
Pediatricians told GMA that the muscles in the face a child of that age are still developing and that the treatment could have lasting effects, including permanent paralysis.
Kerry Campbell, Britney's mom, refused to disclose on national television where she procures the Botox treatments. She freely admits she administers the injections herself and claims she doesn't get them through illegal channels.
And if all that isn't enough, Kerry also waxed Britney's legs and bikini line. Britney says she won't do that again.
GMA released only the first names of mother and child at the request of the mother. When the show aired, Child Protective Services began investigating. Even CPS seems unsure about the legality of what Kerry has done, but Britney has been removed from her mother's home pending the completion of the investigation.
