A bunch of women masturbating and the only these scientists took pictures of was their brains? Well, yeah, and it’s a first time anyone has imaged what goes on in the brain during stimulation of the clitoris, vagina and nipples … and, surprise! Results correspond to what women have long been telling men.
“The precise locations that correspond to the vagina, cervix and female nipples on the brain's sensory cortex have been mapped for the first time, proving that vaginal stimulation activates different brain regions to stimulation of the clitoris,” writes Linda Geddes of New Scientist. Click here to see photos of what brain areas correspond to the vagina, clitoris and nipples, which the study showed to also be directly linked to the genitals.
There’s also a diagram showing where in the sensory cortex the stimulation of many different body parts occurs, a map that was first made sixty years ago in experiments … with all male subjects. “Until recently,” Geddes writes “the position of the clitoris on the homonuculus had only been guessed at,” which will sound familiar to some women.
Scientist in Switzerland used fMRI scans to show that the area activated during clitoral stimulation is about the same as in penis stimulation and a team at Rutgers mapped the “position of the clitoris, vagina and cervix in the sensory cortex as women stimulated themselves.”
Barry Komisurak, whose team did the Rutgers study, would like to see what happens when the G-spot gets stimulated. We love his work. Should we wait for the third date?
