It’s a sad day when you read that someone has taken “doin’ it doggie style” literally. A Florida man was arrested and charged with one felony count of animal cruelty after his grandson saw him attempting to have sex with a three-year-old female bulldog, according to the Northwest Florida Daily News. The dog was given to animal control to be examined by a veterinarian.
Miami New Times blogger Kyle Munzenrieder says that Hickman, 54, “may be one of the first people prosecuted under Florida’s new anti-beastiality laws,” but we wonder if that doesn’t depend on when he goes to court. According to a Broward-Palm Beach New Times blog from May 26 announcing the passage of the law, it goes into effect Oct. 1. In fact, it came with this priceless headline: “Gov. Rick Scott Makes It Official: You Only Have Four Months To Legally Have Sex With Animals.”
So can they wait awhile and charge him under the new law? And since the new law only makes it a misdemeanor to screw the pooch (or any of his non-human pals), wouldn’t it be better for Hickman to be charged under that? I’m not sure but I know Munzenrieder is probably spot-on when says “whatever punishment (Hickman) gets is probably nothing compared to the years of therapy his poor grandson is going to have to go through.”
