Fall is my favorite season for many reasons, one being Halloween! This is the time of year when the air changes and everyone seems to become more friendly. I can't say I don't enjoy the added pumpkin flavored deserts and coffee drinks that are added to menus everywhere, either! The big question many have wondered is "Are we too old for Halloween?" My answer to this is no way!
As adults, we're required to be responsible most of the year and I think many of us forget to have fun sometimes. Halloween is a time for us to dress up as someone we can't be in our normal day to day lives. Last year I dressed up as Marilyn Monroe. I wore the dress, blonde wig, and red lipstick. I love Marilyn and I know I couldn't pull off her beautiful blonde hair year round! I don't see any reason to be concerned about us wanting to dress up for Halloween. Many people role play in the bedroom year round, no reason to freak out about it now.
One thing I love most about Halloween is it gives women the chance to express themselves in a sexy way without being judged. Outside of the bedroom the rest of the year, I dress pretty conservative. The sexiest I go is showing some nice cleavage! So many women are the same way, many are married with children. This is the one day a year we can go out in a mini dress or body suit with our boobs pushed up and out, without fear of dirty looks from others. I don't think it's degrading or empowering to dress sexy for a party.
Some have the idea that Halloween is only for children. It's extremely unfair to exclude adults since many of us are still kids at heart. I don't see a reason why we should stop participating in things like this once we become adults. I do think that the super sexy costume should be left at home when trick-or-treating with children, but that is just about keeping things age appropriate. Where I live the adult related Halloween events are scheduled for the weekend before. I think it's great that they do this, that way it doesn't interfere with the actual day that kids are having their parties and trick-or-treating on.
This is one of those things that I feel people look into too much. As long as you keep your costumes appropriate when there are children around, there's no reason not to participate in the festivities of this fun holiday. After working hard all year I think it's safe to say we deserve to have this one holiday to dress how we want, whether it's sexy or scary. Go out and pick out your costume! It's not everyday we get to be who we want.
