Prostitution and drug possession charges for former pageant princess. You might remember her as a 15-year-old teen on Wife Swap in 2008 who was filmed pitying less attractive people and getting spray-tanned by her dad.
Twenty-one-year-old Alicia Guastaferro was arrested while being caught passed out in a running car, after being reported for erratic driving in New York. Also passed out in the car was attorney 54-year-old James Doyle, who Guastaferro claimed paid her between $500 and $700 a month for the past two years to have sex. Along with the prostitution charge, she had prescription pills in her purse, which led to the drug charges. She was also charged with initially lying to the cops about her identity. Meanwhile, Doyle was charged with drunk driving, unlawfully dealing with a child, since he apparently bought Guastaferro drinks before she was of age, and patronizing a prostitute.
Was Guastaferro’s appearance on Wife Swap the cause of her current legal problem? It was reported that her appearance on the show had her bullied at school and sent to psychiatric care for depression, panic attacks, PTSD and an eating disorder.
She filed a $100 million lawsuit against the show’s broadcasting company, ABC, and Walt Disney Co., its parent company. The suit claimed she was told to act spoiled and the scenes that made her look bad were staged. The lawsuit was settled last year but the terms weren’t disclosed to the public. Then, a year ago, she filed another lawsuit, this time against the strip club she worked at, claiming denied overtime pay. So, the current charges make the third time she deals with the law, but the first time she won’t be trying to get cash out of it. Oh, the joy of reality shows; the only way regular people seem to make it in the newspapers, over and over again.
