Blow-up Dolls Unsuitable for Rafting

Just in case you were wondering, blow-up dolls are not suitable flotation devices. No, really. They're not. Especially in the raging rapids of a ridiculously bloated river.

A man and a woman, both 19, in Warrandyte North, Australia found this out the hard way when they strapped themselves to a couple of naked latex ladies and jumped into the Yarra River for a laugh. Unfortunately the human woman lost track of her inflatable one and ended up holding on to a floating tree instead. Her friend stayed with her until help arrived.

Luckily, someone passing by called triple zero, the number for emergency help in Australia, and a kayaker was able to get life preservers to the couple.

Ah, kids these days. The things they get up to when the river's high.

Of course, police and rescuers are not amused.

“We’ve got people busy with rescues and to have to divert resources to that sort of thing is not ideal,” said Senior Constable Wayne Wilson. “Most rescue organizations would frown on people behaving in such a manner because there are people out there who are in genuine need of assistance.”
