""So, you just use your tongue, right?""
Frustration
Alright, so coming into this article you may think – "Wait, why the fuck is this random girl talking about her visit to the obgyn? Nobody wants to hear about that!" Well, you’re probably right, but this isn't about just any old trip to the obgyn; this is about a college lesbian's trip – which, interestingly enough, consisted of a thorough explanation of how lesbians have sex and why it is indeed sex.
I’ve been going to the same obgyn for the past 4 years now, and it’s always the same deal; “How’s school?”
“How’s your family?”
“Are you sexually active?”
“Good, good!” I always keep my answers short and sweet; I don’t want to be in the office, full of pictures of half naked men, for more than 30 minutes.
When I answer, “Yes,” to the sexually active question I’m, then, hammered with: “Are you using birth control?” “No,” is my answer.
“Are you using condoms?” Again, “No.”
“Do you pull out?” “No.”
By this point Dr. Schwarz* (name changed) is nearly on the floor clutching her little heart. This happens year after year, without fail, though, so I remind her that I’m a lesbian and pregnancy is not a concern of mine. Every year she looks relieved, and then tells me I’m good to go.
Wait a second. I’m good to go? You didn't even do any internal exams, no testing, nothing. Dr. Schwarz believes none of that is necessary, as I don’t engage in penetrative sex. I laughed, and was horrified at the same time. How does my own doctor not know all the ways that lesbians can have sex? I told her to stop, sit down, and listen – which she did hesitantly. I have to remind her that lesbians can engage in oral sex, use their fingers, tribb, and use toys (penetrative and/or non-penetrative).
She looks at me again, asks if I want an internal exam to which I respond,”Yes”. She then says she’s done at which point I ask if she’s done STI testing. She claims there is no need to because there’s a “small chance” of contracting anything because I’m a lesbian. Honey, I know that. But I do fuck and get fucked by bisexual girls and even though there’s only a “small” chance, I want to be safe. She grudgingly complies, does the testing, and then sets me free. You would think she would put a note in my file as this past routine has taken place for the last 3 years.
It’s a common problem among lesbians that on our trips to the doctors, we’re treated as less of a risk and given less time. It’s true; the risk is lower, but it’s still there. I do have sex. I like my pussy licked, and clit sucked. I like to be finger fucked, to be thrust into with a dildo, or have my clit cradled with sweet vibrations. Since I like giving as much as I like receiving; I like to lick, suck, finger fuck, and pump my fake cock into the pussy of the girl I’m with. Yes, Dr. Schwarz, I have sex. I’m as much a patient as the next, and you better keep that in your file for next time
