When I set up my account it took me some time to get into my groove on the site and figure out all the features. I started following other contributors and reading reviews. I get my feet wet and did my first reviews.
Looking back on those now, I am amazed and impressed with how much my reviews have improved. Another contributor suggested that if I wanted to help improve my reviews that I should sign up for the mentor program. I took their advice and signed up. That proved to be a valuable experience and I have had 3 stellar mentors with the program: Ryuson, SMichelle, and currently, Kendra30752. All three of these mentors helped push me to improve my writing, grammar, and find my own voice with my reviews. They each had a different perspective and got me to think outside of the box on my own reviews. It gave me the confidence to start being more genuine in my reviews.
Looking around on the website, I discovered that there were several larger ladies who post different product reviews and include photos of themselves sometimes. After spending only a few months on the site I have found the courage to include some photos of myself in reviews without being concerned about being judged or evaluated on my size. This has been a huge ego boost for me that I did not even realize I needed.
Coming to terms with how much my weight affects my self-esteem has resulted in two exciting things: me working on getting back to the gym and working on self love. I have joined a gym again and am working on my eating habits in a safe and healthy way. I also have spent a lot of time journaling and working on my self-esteem which has been an eye opening experience. I feel that this awareness is helping me be a better person.
Lastly, I am a queer lady and have found that the website is an easy place to discuss sexual orientation and gender identity in a fluid way. I have never really fit inside a box in the LGBT community, and it is nice to find a safe and respectful outlet to explore how that affects my choice in sex toys and play. This site is so LGBT friendly, and there is so much variety in the LGBT contributors on the site. It makes me feel more welcome to explore my own boundaries and try new things like anal play, different types of strap ons, and harnesses. I feel completely comfortable discussing that in my reviews and am excited to be able to find so many other LGBT reviews.
Overall, I came to the site for free and cheaper toys, and a chance to improve my writing. I have taken so much more from my experience. I have experimented with DVD reviews, book reviews, bath and body reviews, toy reviews, and lingerie reviews. I have learned a lot about my likes and dislikes. I have also improved my writing and self esteem.
I think the most important thing is that it really helped me heal myself and get back into the dating game after ending a serious long term relationship. Putting myself out there on the website has helped me rediscover my voice and move forward with my life. I am so proud to be a part of this community and excited to see where it continues to take me and my writing.
