Currently 33 million people around the globe are living with HIV and AIDS, and World AIDS Day is just one of the many ways we band together to raise awareness and hope during this devastating epidemic. Today, eighty cultural monuments—the Sydney Opera House, the London Eye and the Empire State building among them—will be draped in red light in support of the campaign to have an AIDS-free generation by 2015.
“This is a time of great hope and promise in the battle against AIDS, because we are on the verge of ensuring that virtually no child will come into the world carrying the burden of HIV,” said RED organizer and CEO Susan Ellis. “Our World AIDS Day awareness campaign, ‘The AIDS Free Generation is Due in 2015,’ is a reminder to everyone that we must work together to overcome the financial challenges at this critical juncture and to keep the world focused on this issue and this achievable goal.”

The 2011 Pirelli Calendar is a highly collectible erotic art commodity produced by an Italian tire company; this year, Karl Lagerfield has done the calendar’s very evocative photography, going with a Grecian mythology theme—so check out the pics because they are divine.
Julianne Moore makes an appearance as the Greek goddess Hera, and although she’s tastefully covered by a breastplate, some of her calendar companions, like Kate Moss, are traipsing around au naturale. And don’t miss the very explicit shiny codpiece action! Mmmm, codpiece…
As Lagerfeld was reported as saying at the calendar’s presentation, “Nobody believes in these gods anymore but the girls in the Pirelli calendar are the goddesses of today.” Don’t forget gods, Karl. (Mmmm, codpiece.)

Government officials have discovered how they lost 250,000 embassy cables to Wikileaks—Lady Gaga helped sneak the info out. No, not Lady Gaga herself, but her CD.
The suspect, a U.S. soldier and former intelligence analyst, reportedly downloaded the embassy cables, Iraq war logs and other classified information while humming Lady Gaga’s Telephone and sneaked the information onto a CD labeled with the pop star’s name, calling it “Worldwide anarchy in CSV format.”
