We're just chock full of “what not to do” stories these days. The Darwin Awards will certainly have no shortage of nominees this year. And this lady could have avoided it had she just watched an episode of Mythbusters … In particular, the ones in which Adam and Jamie try to fool a bloodhound. We imagine fooling a drug dog would be similarly difficult.
Angela C. Ferranti, a 25-year-old woman in Port St. Lucie, Fla., was found by police hiding in the woods in her bra and underwear. When the officer who found her asked Ferranti why she took her clothes off, she told him she stripped because she was trying to hide her scent from the drug dogs, but she told a sergeant she didn't know why she did it.
“She said she was driving northbound ... and her boyfriend, who is on probation, was paranoid that the police were following them and grabbed the steering wheel and she hit the median,” an affidavit states.
After she hit the median, they got out of the car and ran into the woods to hide from police. Police found the vehicle, and a pipe with marijuana residue on it, then followed a trail of clothes to the drunk, half-naked woman.
If you're gonna do it, do it well, we guess.
