Ah, Wikileaks: Complicated political scandal, huge headline topic running wild across the Internet and now … probably unwilling spokes-site for a Pakistani sanitary napkin company. You know you’ve really made it when you’re helping out women on their periods.
The company is Butterfly, and to promote their menstrual aids, they’ve green-lighted ad company RG Blue Communications to spread the slogan “WikiLeaks. Butterfly doesn't.” Currently the ad is running on two billboards in Karach and in a print campaign throughout Pakistan—and so far, the ad’s received a “very good response,” according to RG Blue head of business development Amjad Hussain.
“Nobody has said it's in bad taste yet,” Hussain said. (As if he’s anticipating that someone will say that very thing some time soon. Hmmm.)
As for the head whistleblower at Wikileaks, Julian Assange, he’s probably too busy to comment on this recent maxi-pad development, as he’s hanging out in a posh English mansion after having just been released on bail and awaiting possible extradition to Sweden and trial for controversial and perhaps trumped-up sexual assault charges. And don’t expect him to check his OKCupid dating profile anytime soon. He is danger, achtung, y’know.
