Actress Kristen Stewart is up to more these days other than just popping up on the Internet semi-nude with Twilight co-star Robert Pattinson—the teenage vamp-lover plans on setting up a charitable organization to benefit sex workers.
Stewart has said that her experience playing a runaway prostitute in the film Welcome to the Rileys has stayed with her as one of the most meaningful experiences of her career. Back in October, she told MTV, “If you do a movie, especially this one—it's not the easiest thing subject-matter-wise—it stuck with me.” And although the newest installment of the Twilight franchise has her busy at the moment, Stewart said in an interview with Vogue that she’s working on setting up a network of halfway houses to benefit people involved in sex work who want to get out of the business. “That would be amazing,” she said. “Right now, it's the thing I feel most connected to.”
Stewart also said in the interview that the life of stardom that Twilight has afforded her isn’t the easiest thing in the world to deal with. “I just can't go to the mall. It bothers me that I can't be outside very often,” she said. “And also to not ever be just ‘some girl’ again. Just being some chick at some place, that's gone.” Then again, those “some girls” might find it more difficult to do some awesome charitable work helping others, so maybe it’s not so bad.
