A few Puerto Rican religious figure heads are not at all happy with Ricky Martin's coming out. They're accusing Ricky of being a terrible role model for young boys, and especially his sons.
Not long ago, Pastor Wanda Rolon of First Christian Church of La Senada Antigua posted on Facebook that Ricky Martin is a man “who wants to take people to hell! RM is its ambassador.”
Hell's ambassador? Surely, there are better candidates than a pop star trying to free his homeland of prejudice.
Cardinal Luis Aponte Martinez of San Juan urges Ricky Martin to stop promoting homosexuality. In an interview with Primera Hora, the Cardinal said, “Personally, I admire Ricky for the great artistic gifts the Lord has endowed him, but please, for the love of his children, for whom I imagine he wants the best, try to set an example to our youth of the great values we all share, besides sex.”
Us? We think it's high time people, especially those of the cloth, stop judging others by their sexuality. For doesn't the Bible say, “Judge not, that you be not judged”?
