“It’s taken me 43 years to get comfortable with this part of my life,” Mehlman said, going on to describe how the process of outing himself has been “something that’s made me a happier and better person.” Bloggers from the left and right are supporting—and lambasting—Mehlman for his confession, while some Internet pundits find fault with the anti-gay polices Mehlman supported while working under President George W. Bush.
But it appears Mehlman has left that “homophobic” part of his life behind, as recently he’s helped raise $750,000 in support of same sex marriage. Currently, Mehlman’s appealing to Republicans: “I hope that we, as a party, would welcome gay and lesbian supporters.” We would hope so, too.
Elsewhere, Jennifer Aniston isn’t a lesbian, but she plays one on TV—or, rather, in Judd Apatow’s new movie Wanderlust. Cinema buffs around the web are buzzing about Aniston potentially shedding her girl-next-door image for a role that will see her smoking pot, engaging in lesbian threeways, and going topless.
Reportedly, the widely beloved and lusted-after Aniston has only done one topless scene before, and that got cut from the movie in post-production, so we’re thinking that reports will soon surface of thousands of adoring fans flocking to see her bare breasted without even knowing what the movie is about.
In other semi-nude news, the streets of SoHo were overrun Thursday with our kind of invasion—hot people in underwear wandered up and down the city blocks in a promotional stunt by filmmaker Jason Stein.
While the promo was shot for an unnamed “international apparel designer and retailer,” both male and female models walked clad in boxer shorts and bras and panties, much to the delight of nearby gawkers who were encouraged to take photos. As Gawker Nick Gannascoli said, “It is like being at the beach, but in Manhattan. A little beauty never hurt anybody.” Indeed, most of the time, it helps.
