If you read Sex Feed yesterday, you knew this was coming. The Peoria, Ill., Town Council voted 9-1 last night to enact an ordinance prohibiting businesses in which people can participate or view a live sex act. The new law was pretty much aimed squarely at Club 307, an alleged swingers club that had been operating without incident for some time until officials were alerted to its presence by a TV news broadcast last year.
City Mayor Jim Ardis said his interpretation of the new ordinance is that Club 307, if it remains in operation, will be violating the city's new ordinance and, therefore, is illegal. City Attorney Randy Ray said the ordinance is effective 10 days after the council's vote, or April 23.
According to the Peoria Journal Star, no one from Club 307 showed up for the vote. Councilman Gary Sandberg cast the only vote against the ordinance, saying he believes it goes too far in trying to regulate the activities of consenting adults.
Our own recollection tells us that laws aimed at putting previously legal adult businesses out of business don’t necessarily hold up well in court, but the fight can be expensive. And in Peoria, we’re guessing that it might be unpopular as well.

Does this mean they are going to shut down Big Als, the strip club in the middle of downtown Peoria? Because I am pretty sure there are activities that would violate this law.
