Police have arrested 26-year-old Tonye Iketubosin of Crown Heights in New York City yesterday in connection with two sexual assaults in Zuccotti Park, the Wall Street Journal reports.
Iketubosin, an Occupy Wall Street participant, told the police that he’d been sleeping in the park for more than a week and working in its makeshift kitchen. He offered the use of his tent to an 18-year-old girl early Saturday morning, saying he was going to work in the kitchens. She took the offer.
“But she said she soon awoke to find Iketubosin removing her pants, the official said. She told police she asked to him to stop, but he didn’t comply. Then he raped her, the official said.”
The second assault involved a 17-year-old girl who asked Iketubosin to help her set up her tent. She said she went inside the tent the next morning only to find him there. She asked him to leave repeatedly but he refused and groped her until she pushed him away.
Iketubosin is being charged with third-degree sexual abuse in that case; charges are pending in the first.
