Hey boss(wo)man! If your employees wrote a letter about you to your boss(wo)man, what would the tone be?
In the case of one Nebraska prosecutor, the answer is “decidedly not good.”
In a letter addressed to York County Commissioners and signed by Deputy County Attorney Candace Dick and office staffers Jamie Martell and Crystal Vavra, some pretty hefty charges are being aimed directly at York County Attorney Bill Sutter's genitals. According to the affidavit, Sutter's attitude regarding sexual assault seriously leaves something to be desired.
What was their first clue?
Well, upon finding video footage of children as young as 3 years old being penetrated by a man on someone's computer, Sutter is accused of declining to prosecute and saying, “I don't really care what people do in their own homes as long as no one gets hurt.”
Later, about an unrelated child porn case, Sutter turned down viewing the pictures—joking that it would be bad if his friends got their hands on them. He lamented the fact that no one can have “good clean sex” any more while investigating a statutory rape case, and joked that eventually women who are being raped should just lay back and enjoy it. And he discussed the size of his balls with his secretary.
The county commission asked for Sutter's resignation and Sutter declined. So they're organizing a recall vote. Here's hoping they win, eh?
