Until today, all a lot of people born before the Internet came along probably knew about Miley Cyrus was that her dad had a hit song with a weirdly addicting riff sometime in the ’90’s and that she occasionally turns up on Fashion Police.
At least, that was all I knew. Now suddenly I find myself becoming a fan of her style and wondering what Joan Rivers and friends will have to say about the young star’s newest accessory: a tattoo on her finger in support of gay marriage. Miley had an equals sign inked onto her finger and tweeted a photo with the message, “All love is equal.”
The tattoo itself is kind of like a good tweet—economical and to the point— and Access Hollywood reports the 18-year-old former Disney star of Hannah Montana (See? old people can learn) has a number of them, including one that says “Just Breathe” honoring the memory of a friend who died of cystic fibrosis.
Miley had some emphatic words about the equality of love for a Twitter follower who evidently took issue with the ink: “Where does it say in the bible to judge others? Oh right. It doesn’t. GOD is the only judge honey. GOD is love.”
First of all, isn’t it great when someone gets the word “honey” into a religious argument?
Second, how could anyone not give this fashion statement a thumbs up? We do.
