Absolutely Fabulous. The Daily Mail reports that the first gay hotel chain in America has made it’s Miami premiere with the Lords Hotel in South Beach and, if the pics with the story and on the hotel’s website are any indication, we would like to live there.
The bold colors, clean lines and mid-century modern design come from Dan Mazzarini, who designed it with partner Brian Humphrey (BHDM Design). Mazzarini told Gawker he wanted to create something “spirited, happy, playful,” but with the “discerning gay audience” in mind. Owner Brian Gorman surveyed 20,000 gay Americans, more than 75 percent of whom said they’d prefer a gay-oriented hotel, and the chain will be opening more branches in cities such as New York, L.A. and San Francisco. Gorman says the focus “is on that demographic, but it’s really about making anyone comfortable,” which is good because I’m going to go live there.
Lords has a social calendar which includes a game night that includes Twister and Spin the Bottle; they call room service “Stay Naked Dining,” and one of the bars appears to be solid metallic gold. Would you get in the car already? We’re going to live there.
