Did ya hear the one about Target donating money to the politician who supported a group that advocates for the killing of gays and lesbians? $150,000, in fact.
They defended themselves with the argument that supporting the politician doesn't mean they support all the politician's ventures.
Right. And we're actually advocating for missionary sex positivity. All that other stuff is just... fodder.
Target's not getting off that easy, though. Lady Gaga has stepped up to the plate, and she's got one hell of a swing. She struck a bargain with Target, giving them the right to sell a special edition of her new album Born This Way, with remixes and three additional studio cuts. But there are rules Target has to follow.
“That discussion was one of the most intense conversations I've ever had in a business meeting ... Part of my deal with Target is that they have to start affiliating themselves with LGBT charity groups and begin to reform and make amends for the mistakes they've made in the past...our relationship is hinged upon their reform in the company to support the gay community and to redeem the mistakes they've made supporting those groups.”
We're ... astonished. Both that Gaga has this kind of power, and that she doesn't hesitate to use it.
