When you can’t bear something, it might be the perfect time to bare it all. That’s what one Egyptian blogger and dozens of Israeli women who are supporting her seem to have decided. Last week 20-year-old Allaa Magda Elahdy posted a naked photo of herself in protest of the limits of free expression in her country and wound up getting criticism and threats, reports YNet.com.
That’s what made Or Tepler, 28, decide she wanted to show Elahdy that she had support from other women. She opened a Facebook page inviting other women to show support for Elahdy, whom she described as “a woman who is just like us— young, ambitious, full of dreams and evidently has developed a sense of humor.”
The Israeli women didn’t quite bare it all to the camera but they’re definitely naked enough that you get the point. The bare naked ladies covered up mostly by standing behind a banner that reads “Love without Limits” and “Homage to Allaa Elmahdi. Sisters in Israel.”
It upset Tepler that Elahdy received “a quarter of a million abusive comments and death threats,” and for her there’s also a “nationalistic aspect and I won’t deny being a leftist and a seeker of peace,” she said. “I feel like the governments don’t represent the enlightened, simple people who want peace.”
We love people who decide “I’ll show them ...” and mean it literally.
