Howard Stern is on the cover of Rolling Stone for the first time since 1997, talking about his post-divorce wild life and how he kind of admires Charlie Sheen but is no longer a whole lot like him.
Stern was divorced in 2001 after 20 years of marriage and three children with Alison Berns.
“I was running around picking up women. Then all of a sudden, it dawned on me that I really didn't need that much sex,” Stern told writer Neil Strauss, author of The Game: Penetrating the Secret Society of Pickup Artists. “I just wanted somebody with me every minute.”
In 2008, Stern married model Beth Ostrosky.
“In many ways, my marriage now is so easy, but I'm also aware that I could fuck things up very easily,” Stern said. “I could start getting more into my work, and ignoring what's important to Beth.”
We confess, we haven’t paid that much attention to Howard since he went off the public airwaves, over to SiriusXM, and we kind of assumed that he was still the bad boy of radio, surrounded by strippers and telling penis jokes. And maybe he still is that, as an entertainer. But life doesn’t have to imitate art, you know? We think we might pay to hear Howard and Charlie Sheen have a discussion on that topic.
In this brief audio clip, Stern talks about Sheen. “I sort of admire (his) ability to say ‘fuck you’ to the world. … I don’t know whether to give him a medal or throw him in the loony bin.”
