Here we go again. Another woman has come forward with a story about Herman Cain, this one claiming a 13-year-affair with the Republican presidential candidate. Ginger White met Cain in the late '90s in Louisville, Ky., she says, and their affair began shortly thereafter. She says their physical relationship ended eight months ago, just before he announced his presidential bid.
White says she was going to keep the relationship a secret until she saw the allegations of sexual harassment by other women and the way Cain was responding to them. From Fox 5 in Atlanta:
“It bothered me that they were being demonized, sort of, they were treated as if they were automatically lying, and the burden of proof was on them,” White said. “I felt bad for them.”
White showed reporters her cell phone bill, which listed numerous calls and texts from a number White says was Cain’s private cell phone. The reporters texted Cain at that number and he called back but said White’s allegations are false.
Responding to the story, Cain’s attorney, Lin Wood, noted that this is not a criminal allegation, i.e. sexual harassment, which he said would be a legitimate issue, but “Rather, this appears to be an accusation of private, alleged consensual conduct between adults— a subject matter which is not a proper subject of inquiry by the media or the public.”
It’s not that we disagree…we just want to know where Lin Wood was when Bill Clinton and Anthony Weiner needed him?
